Kimi no na wa(Your name) is doing great in SK!
It's now no.1 with 138,028 admissions for wednesday.
Star wars dropped to 9th with 17k admissions.

I loved the film and hope it gets to have decent legs internationally. Hoping for a $300m-350m+ worldwide gross.

WiiU sold more units than PS4.
And it was released more than a year before the Ps4. The Ps4 should comfortably outsell the WiiU in the coming weeks and even more so once FFXV launches.
Anyhoo, Kimi no na wa is wonderful and is probably my favorite Makoto Shinkai movie yet.

Oh, is that $1m in Japan previews a good sign?
According to Corpse, it's decent considering it was shown in very limited screenings/showings. Not sure if it's enough to indicate anything for its performance in Japan.

72 million overseas is pretty much a poor performance for a movie with a budget of 144 million + 100 million spent for P&A. That's beyond pathetic.
Remember, Fantastic Four made 111 million overseas. Yeah, that horrible FF reboot made 111 million overseas and it's basically confirmed that Ghostbusters won't be making 100 million overseas, unless it makes 40 million in Japan, which we both know it won't happen. That's a disaster.
Its domestic numbers aren't the worst thing ever, but the numbers are disappointing regardless.
It doesn't need 40m in Japan to get to 100m or more overseas. That's like saying it has stopped earning money in all the other markets it has been released. It probably has more than $10m or so left in its existing markets so It still has a chance in breaking 100m. After Japan, it still has Korea which could potentially add another $5m. If it makes more than 10m in Japan then 100m is already all but assured. The movie already made $1m(estimate) in previews in Japan.

An 80%-85% drop for Suicide Squad on its 2nd weekend(fri-sun) is to be expected. About 45% or so drop for SLOPS. August 15 is Independence day so there might be some slight boost in box office performances.

How come SS is dropping so fast ? WOM ?
Toxic word of mouth and competition. The competition is just way too good(compared to SS)for the movie to get any attention.

But Deadpool, CACW, and BVS got more than that.
'Cuz Deadpool, CACW and BVS are more popular than X-men.

It's looking bad for SS's legs. It's been going down every day since release. It's now down to 7th in pre-sales.

Wow. SS's Sat is lower than it's Wed. How often does that happen when OD isn't a holiday?
Not usually. That means the movie is not getting great WOM.

SS is decreasing again on it's pre-sales(SLOP is ahead of it now, currectly) so The Last Princess will most likely top the weekend now in both Admissions and box office gross with SS most likely earning third.
pre-sales(admissions):
TLP: 185,272
Chromite: 148, 162
SLOP: 127, 904
SS: 112, 470

SS might not top the weekend in SK. It's either Operation Chromite or The Last Princess. So It could be either 1st, 2nd or even 3rd in terms of admission but might be 1st in terms of won or dollars earned(because of IMAX and 4D).

Well, it's a very small release, so I don't know what you can expect. Overall, I'd say no, just by going by the latest data.
I mean for a movie released only in a handful of theatres, It's also not doing well? Hmm. Well hopefully they give it a wide release eventually, considering it seems to be continuously getting rave reviews(specially for a movie based on a video game).
-
Is Kingsglaive FFXV performing well considering its very limited release? It's getting great reviews so far.

Mojo has JW just over 1B
All sources have JW over 1B so actuals should be a bit higher like usual.

Finally Over $1b next week!

Jurassic World actually managed a second weekend increase, and even if this weekend was boosted by this year's Obon Festival, it's a mighty accomplishment considering how well it opened last week.
According to weekend estimates, the Top 10 delivered the 7th Biggest Weekend of All-Time, just after last weekend delivered the 4th Biggest Weekend of All-Time.
It's also the Biggest Weekend of All-Time without any new openers (the Frozen lead weekend on the list had two openers make the Top 10).
And that's not all. This weekend makes the FOURTH weekend in the past 9 months that's crack the Top 10 below:
Biggest All-Time Weekends (Top 10 Films) [1998-]

2015 has been an incredibly strong year at the Japanese Box Office. There hasn't been an uber-blockbuster released, but most films are breaking out and exceeding expectations. There have been dozens of various records broken.
Before this crazy summer began (end of June), the year was only down 8% from last year. It's likely to close that gap, or end up ahead of last year by the end of August. If Fall of this year delivers in the same manner, 2015 could challenge 2010 as the biggest year of all-time.
Actuals have already been released. JW gets 7.6m(35.1 total).
-
From Deadline:
It went 200k higher with the actuals at 7.6m(total now at 35.1m in Japan) and overseas total this weekend at 9.3m.
- 1
-
Deadline has JW at an estimated 7.4m in Japan(34.9m total), MI5 at at 5.2(20.4m total) and Minions at 3.2m(25.2m total). Hopefully(as usual) the actuals are higher.

Last Weekend's Top 10 was the 4th Biggest Weekend of All-Time, and the same films are looking to make a play at the Top 10 Biggest Weekends of All-Time once again this week.
If this weekend does indeed crack the Top 10, it'll be the fourth weekend in the past 9 months to make the Top 10. Three weekends making the Top 10 list in the last 9 months is impressive enough, but four would be an incredible accomplishment.
Jurassic World will see a minimal second weekend drop, likely under 10%. I would project a potential increase, but it opened so high that I think only a drop can happen. Now, if Saturday/Sunday had been either the 13th/14th, generally the biggest days of Obon Festival, a second weekend increase would have been very likely.
All the films that are attracting families/children (Minions, Inside Out), teens/students (The Boy and the Beast), or businessmen/seniors (Hero 2, Japan's Longest Day) should experience weekend increase or very minuscule drops.
This is only one of three times every year that all schools and many businesses are closed at the same time.
Boruto will still see a sharp drop, since it's a frontloaded franchise in its second week, and Kamen Rider always drops around 50% in its second weekend, no matter there being a major holiday going on or not.
Nah, I don't think JW will drop, it'll most likely get a higher 2nd weekend.

my estimates from yesterday to be way off. I noticed Aeon was put back in. They are probably more like Tuesday numbers
According to Rth, it's not that far off. 3.38m and you estimated 3.6m. You are talking about Thursday numbers right? lol
