All hail the new kings: dinos and soon DCU
Queen* since all dinos in JW/JP are female, or at least all the famous ones(Rexy, I-rex, velociraptors, etc).
-
are you sure???? it's slowing down so much i wonder if theater owners pull it out before it crosses TA. also miles away from TA domestic. i will laugh at you if it JW falls short
OMG It's not?!
-
JW is going to beat The Avengers WW gross tomorrow(actually today when it earns its tuesday gross)!
It's at $1,517,401,562 as of this Monday.

Wait, genuine question to CJohn/Bishop-- you paid to see a single movie 10 times? Did you have a free pass or sneak in or something? Why on earth would you give one movie $100 of your money?
I paid $90+ for JW. LOL. But that was because I watched it myself at first(imax), then watched it with my parents(imax) then my older bro and his wife made me pay for theirs(reg 3d).
-
Probably next Sunday. Monday at the latest.
You mean this sunday, right?
-
So when does JW will pass TA guys? Need to request a night off for the party
If it has the same drop this weekend(or lower) then it will most likely surpass it come sunday but if it has a higher drop then monday.

Ant-Man did well!
JW is losing steam. It couldn't hit 12mil.
It doesn't need steam cuz it's still on fire!

You and I have a different definition of a Marvel movie, that's all.
Well that's not important anyway. I'm just saying I enjoyed Ant-man more than any of the movies I mentioned(that has anything to do with marvel) except Gotg.
-
Not a Marvel Studios movie. Not produced by Marvel. It's a movie that features Marvel characters and produced by Sony.
Still features a marvel character and it does show the marvel logo so I consider it a marvel movie(or more specifically a movie about a marvel character) despite not being made by marvel studios. Anyway that's beside the point.

ASM2 isn't in the MCU.
It's a marvel movie.
-
So given there have been no home video releases for the MCU since Guardians, you are saying it's the most fun Marvel movie you've seen since the last Marvel movie you watched?
Yes. You do know there are a lot of other marvel movies available on home video right? And I can buy and watch them anytime or stream them too. I saw Thor's sequel after Age of Ultron and saw TASpiderman 2 after Gotg last year.
-
Not hard. There was only one movie between them
Lol like I said, the movie I've seen. Gotg nor Age of Ultron is not the last marvel movie I've seen before Ant-man. And I don't necessarily watch all marvel movies in the cinemas either.
-
You say this like Guardians is really old or something. It came out less than a year ago and there was only one MCU movie in between Guardians and Ant-Man.
Yeah but I don't really watch all movies when they get released in cinemas. Most of the time I watch them at home years after they get released.
-
I was thoroughly surprised by Ant-man. It's the most fun I've had watching a Marvel movie since Guardians of the Galaxy. GotG is still way better though but Ant-man holds well on its own. Definitely better than Thor or Captain America. Hopefully it does well enough in the BO.

Jurassic World would have $115m second weekend.
Yeah imagine JW's gross if Inside Out wasn't released this year.
-
Yeah, it passed FF7 and TA isn't far ahead. Should get there easily by next weekend.
It's awesome that it passed milestones in all three dom, OS and WW during the same weekend. I hope Universal gets some headlines out of that.
Milestones after milestones each week! But then again, next week will the last weekend it'll be achieving milestones until it beats Titanic(if that is happening) and when it debuts in Japan, and if it manages to snag enough for it to reach $1b internationally.
-
If actuals go up for JW (or even if it stays the same), then TA is toast next week. JW will then take 3rd place on highest grossing film of all time both domestically and worldwide.

I hope these estimates hold but they'll probably go down again tomorrow.
-
As long as it focuses more on Kaijus instead of giant robots and the human characters, it will most likely do well. If PR1 was a film all about the events that lead to what happened in the actual movie then it could have done way better at the box office, instead they skipped most of it and focused on the aftermath. The Kaijus were left mostly ambiguous and many characters didn't have enough time for a proper introduction.

Giving the exact same jump/drops as last weekend, IO and JW get 12.0 and 11.7m respectively.
For JW to beat IO this weekend, it will need to close the gap to 0.1m with official numbers.
It depends, actually. Add some few digits in the ten thousands and the totals could be different. If let's say JW got 3.545 and IO got 3.65 then JW will have the higher total.

Ant Man
Previews 6.4
Friday 18.0
Saturday 20.5
Sun 16.0
Weekend 61m
Minions
Fri 14.5
Sat 20.5 (+41%) hopefully
Sun 15.0 (-27%)
Weekend 50m
IO
Fri 3.7
Sat 5.0
Sun 3.8
Weekend 12.5m
JW
Fri 3.5
Sat 5.0
Sun 3.5
Weekend 12.0m
It's pretty exciting tussle between IO and JW.
I think JW will edge out IO again this weekend. A higher Saturday increase and a lower Sunday decrease as usual despite Ant-man.

Are you by any chance up for a username/signature bet? I'm willing to bet you that not only will JW beat TA's DOM gross, but it will pass it by the end of its ninth weekend. Heck, I feel pretty good that it will do it by the end of its eighth weekend if the stars align, but I say ninth weekend just in case your "analysis" has any form of accuracy.
Are you up for the challenge? That's JW being over or under $623,357,910 by the end of day 59. I'll take the over, if you accept.
I'm sure it will surpass it in 2 weeks or less.
-
For as slow as it's taking JW to hit 600M, I'm still maintaining it doesn't make another 24M to beat TA.. It's slowed down ALOT and if I'm wrong, so be it, but I'm still not seeing it happening for what was such a sure fire thing..
It is still 100% a sure fire thing. You're the only lifeform on Earth and the solar system who thinks otherwise. JW is only on it's 35th day on cinemas, and it's not even half-way through until the end of its run. You're making it seem like it's only earning 5-6 digits per day.

TA got an increase in its third, fourth and fifth Thursdays (the Thursday referenced by Katch 22 was the fifth Thursday). It then dropped on the next two Thursdays before rising again.
Yeah but why did it increase?(specifically the same thursday as JW(35th day))
Monday Actuals: Ant-Man $6.40M, Minions $5.78M, Trainwreck $3.54M, JW $1.37M
