JW will have 34m to go to Titanic after this weekend. Gonna be close. Labor Day could be what gets it there though, as I'd imagine a nice bump for it that weekend.
But that's in September, right? I doubt a few hundred thousand could get it to pass Titanic, nor help it at all. Universal/Legendary dramatically increasing its screen count is the only way it will beat Titanic.

Movies that stood out for me this year so far:
1. Jurassic World
2. Inside Out
3. Spy
4. Ant-man
5. Mad max
6. Kingsman
7. Cinderella
8. Paddington(US release)
9. AOU

Easily my worst viewing of Jurassic World, but still liked it because you know.. it's JW and I'm crazy about it.
It gave me a 4-dimensional headache with all the constant vibration/movements, flashing of light, water sprays and sudden jerks. It was similar to being seasick. But there were a lot of people (including my friend) who loved all of this as it made them feel like a part of the movie, so to each their own I guess. I just wanted to experience what 4D is all about, and what better movie to try it out for the first time than JW! Here's some of the effects that I remember:
They spray water on you when Momo jumps into the water
Your seat shakes every time Indy puts its foot down
Flashes of light when ACU are shooting at the dinosaurs
Vibration when Indy/Rexy roar.
Air comes out of your seat from behind your neck to simulate "breeze" during aerial shots or pteranodon scenes
And more water when the kids jump off the clif
That's all I can remember but I'm pretty sure there was a lot more.
That sounds like fun to me! I like those kinds of effects when watching the movie.

judging from this weekends performance, I think the best comparison we could get from TA's original run is by comparing JW's 7th weekend to TA's 8th weekend and then compare it from then on and stopping at TA's 17th week as after that it got the boost. I think their gross will be the most comparable with that. With that comparison then JW will most likely get at least 19m more until it's 16th week, meaning it will gross 642m by then. Only time will tell if Universal or Legendary chooses to extend it or not but I hope they do, specially with Legendary as they always extend their movies' run.

I've seen about 10 different movies so far this summer, but if I had to pick my top 5 it would look something like this
1. Jurassic World (IMAX 3D)
2. Jurassic World (2D)
3. Jurassic World (RealD 3D)
4. Jurassic World (3D)
5. Jurassic World (4D)
How was JW in 4d? I've heard it was one of the best 4d experiences yet? What effects did they throw at you? lol. It's annoying they don't have 4d theatres in the US yet.

· The Hunger Games: Catching Fire crosses $400 million!
· Titanic, Finding Nemo, Star Wars Episode I: The Phantom Menace and Despicable Me 2 all gain 1 spot on Day 42.
You have the Dark Knights and the Avengers AOU gross wrong. That's the 35th day gross for TDK, not 42nd. It grossed $982,116 on it's 42nd day. And AOU grossed $630,675.

Better film does not always translate to higher gross. Sometimes the first is a singular phenomenon even if the sequel is received as being a "better" movie. And sometimes the "better" sequel is not received as resoundingly by the GA. Spider-Man 2 says hi.
I think is going to drop no matter what. Still going to do well, but it will drop. And we'll all act shocked about it. Again.
Yeah but it has a chance it will do better if it becomes a much better film. It's not 100% certain it will do less.
-
I was thinking the same thing.
JW2 will certainly do well, but it's not going to break the OW record or anything like that.
depends really, if it proves to be a much better film than the first then it will definitely do better. Most sequels these days fall short of their predecessors and thus their box office gross suffers with it.

Who cares...
Plenty of people do.

@ScottMendelson: Universal slots JURASSIC WORLD sequel for June 22, 2018. Chris Pratt and Bryce Dallas Howard will return.
no news on the director and writer?

Will the Thursday holds be better this week? I don't see Pixels or Paper Towns opening to the same tune as Trainwreck and Ant-Man
I'd like to see JW rise on thursday for once(excluding july 4th weekend). haha

Down 40.55% from last Wednesday. That kind of pace will lead to a total in the $640-645m area. Needs 30% weekly drops to pass Titanic.
I do hope it gets higher increases on weekends from now on.

It's not estimates, he has access to the raw numbers as they come in.

According to deadline, JW's international gross is 907.3 not 906.7 and it's total WW gross is 1.522b.
"Abroad Uni’s dinosaur fourthquel stands at $907.3M. Dinos will raid Japan next on August 5 in their global tour. The top two films currently at the all-time worldwide B.O., standing over Jurassic World, are Avatar ($2.79B) and Titanic ($2.19B)."

I hear it's quite emotional.
Like...this might not have the legs as other Pixar cause it's not quite as funny type of drama.
Yeah, probably gonna be like Wall-E. Not that Wall-E was a tear-jerker but the kind of movie that concentrates more on emotional attachments and relevant themes of yada-yada. lol

For some reason the trailer reminded me of The Land before time. Meaning it's probably gonna be a tear-jerker.

Females who spontaneously change their sex when the population is depleted.
I'm assuming B.D. Wong fixed that glitch in Jurassic World.
Yeah, he fixed them so females will stay female forever since they did stress upon the gender of the main dinosaurs.
Cruddy Weekend Estimates: A-M 24.77m, Pix 24m, Minions 22m, Trainwreck 17.2m, Southpaw 16.5m, PT 12.5m,
