    Laos

Major Platinum Cineplex confirmed that Thai Title "The Undertaker" (สัปเหร่อ) has crossed both "Avatar: The Way Of Water" (Gross) &"Avengers: Endgame" (Admission) — Making it the All-Time Highest Grossing Film in Laos. No Gross Reported (as I am looking around still)

Thai Title was also the Post COVID-19 Highest Grossing Film in Thailand (again defeated "Avatar: The Way Of Water" which took the record from "Spider-Man: No Way Home")

It seems like Thai version of the french hit Untouchable  :)

I think Korea will be the only market that never gonna recover unless they fix their ticket price rate, Movie Quality, Streaming Windows.

    2023 had 125M admits (+11% 2022: 113M admits) but far behind 2019: 227M admits (so that's -45%)

Also, the number of film releases fell both year-on-year and when compared with the altogether healthier 2019. Some 1,539 titles reached Korean screens in 2023, compared with 1,774 in 2022 and 1,943 in 2019, the Kobis data showed. Really shocking..

Wow.... i didn´t know that the drop is so brutal... thanks very much for the intersting data as always, i´m not an expert at all in Asia markets, but it seems that Korean distribution companies are not doing well many things...

Global Box Office Reaches $33.9B In 2023, Up 31% On 2022 – Analysts

Excluding India (for which Gower Street/comScore do not have complete tracking) the top 10 offshore markets are estimated to be: China ($7.71B), Japan ($1.48B), UK/Ireland ($1.36B), France ($1.35B), Germany ($1.01B), Korea ($970M), Mexico ($940M), Australia ($670M), Italy ($550M) and Spain ($540M).

The only top 15 market to finish 2023 ahead of its 2017-2019 average was the Netherlands (+3%), Gower Street reports.

Overseas, the three key regions all made year-on-year gains. Per Gower’s report, EMEA delivered just shy of $9B, a 25% gain on 2022, but 15% behind the 2017-2019 average. The EMEA region accounted for 26.5% of global box office, a slight dip from 27.7% in 2022. Asia Pacific (excluding China) is estimated to have made a more modest gain of 9% to $5.5B. With China included, the region accounted for 38.9% of global sales, up from 35.6% in 2022, but this was boosted by China’s surge from 16.3% in 2022 to 22.8% in 2023. Without China, says Gower Street, the region appears to have fallen from 19.3% to 16.1% of worldwide sales. This is in part due to more modest increases versus 2022 in some key markets, such as Japan, which had seen stronger recovery in the previous year. Latin America is estimated to have delivered $2.66B, a 32% gain on 2022 and just 8% below the 2017-2019 average.

It seems that clearly Australia is the top country in the world for the ratio population/tickets sold.
I´ve learned that for some years past was Korea, but it seems the number of people went down there.

    well that's for everyting

the incredible 25M fifth weekend for Top gun everyone was celebrating last year it's not that so much better than pretty woman 20M adjusted fifth weekend. I mean Pretty Woman,  so just think how many adjusted better weekends we got in the past.

Speaking about Avatar, that movie didn't have like 80% or more of tickets in 3D format?. Even with 14 years inflation i wouldn't be surprised numbers of tickets sold are really similar for Barbie, it doesn't even have imax.

Of course, we are agree then. Different ages, different kind of sucess, everybody happy.

Barbie has to have the most consistently impressive Mondays of any summer blockbuster ever. None have been on a holiday thus far yet we just had 3 sub-50% Monday drops in a row, all coming off of Sunday dips of 15% or less.

This is something to check it out, cause is a real freaking data if it´s correct.

Not even exaggerating when I say that's the most impressive non-OW number I've ever seen in nearly 20 years of following the box office. And the rest of the week might top it.

I think you are little exaggerating, cause Avatar numbers adjusted are same level or better, and of course older movies have simmilar pattern,. Of course Barbie is doing really well and all of us love these kind of numbers, but mostly are due inflation IMO.

For me is even better the SUN-Mon drop repeating, this is truly remarkable.
