Ha, ha ,ha it seems you´re a core fan of Grendizer!!!!
I don´t want to enter in a battle :)  about was bigger and better, but it seems really difficult to erase all the memories and heroes from childhood, so for you Grendizer is N.1 and for me Mazinger will be forever and ever, hahaha...

You gave me also a nice surprise commenting about my posts with TGm, i didn´t know i could have followers here, great!!

I usually post really few, only with runs that i really love like Titanic, Avatar and of course like last year with TGM, cause for me has been the 2nd most interesting run to follow in the 21st Century, after Avatar, of course.

I´m and old school fan of leggy runs, much more than mega first weekend gross like is usual last years.
i also follow international trends and especially admissions count threads, but these are not really popular here, for this, i´m surprise and happy to know that somebody followed and enjoyed my posts. TGM was something really nice to follow, and i was very active in that time, adding data and some statistics that i love the most.

Cptn Brittles did an amazing job with his posts and of course Baumer, is one of the legends here, i usally like his comments and also the nice numbers from Mike, always very interesting.

Thanks for your kindness and good energy, i hope you can post more here, it´s a pleasure to echange with you.

Let´s hope soon we´ll have another event like TGM, but i have big doubts about it, these phenomenoms happens few times.

Enjoy your beautifu Croatia or wherever you are and keep in touch here.

Grendizer, great, but number 2!!!  )))))

    Hola setna!

Croatia, but can say Worldwide , went everywhere thanks to the job :)

Gracias for all you wrote, nice to know about statue!, Been for a short while on IMBD forums (whilst was still active), but nobody reacted to similar post, but guess what 1st I found out there was a Crossover between Mazinger and Transformer Universe in 2019, a looks like a short while ago there is a Grendizer PS4 and PS5 game released! (Got no idea how popular PS these days is?) Trying to post at least a photo of Grendizer here, can't make it.Perhaps you can help, absolutely mind boggling!

    Hello Pryda!!
Thanks for your kind words, yeah maybe it´s too much time ago and maybe the people in the forums are very young or in their countries wasn´t popular.

About Grendizer i don´t know much and in Spain i think never was released, i know him about rading the story of Mazinger Z at the internet.
And for me was also a surprise to read here a comment talking about Mazinger, first time in these years here around, so it was a nice surprise and i don´t have any doubt that Del Toro was inspired from Mazinger for Pacific Rim.

About the photo i´ll try it, but i don´t use to post anything except words.
Nice to meet you and exchnge about so memorable story!!!

Guillermo del Toro made Pacific Rim movies based and inspired by Japanese super robot manga series.

If you take a note that "Mazinger Z" (Tranzor Z in US) originated in 1972 !😲 and Grandizer in 1975 its hard to believe that nobody else took advantage of making it to the big screen. Arguably, Grandizer has huge potential visually and story wise and there are places in the World with a mass following fan base like France and Italy. (Yes, Mexico too :) ).

With the money invested in Transformers, Grandizer would become a phenomenon.

    Where are you from?

In Spain, Mazinger Z was the biggest phenomenon of the 70´s and begining of the 80´s.  If a move were made in that time for sure had broken box office records, because every children the crazy was totally mad with the series.
Here in Spain, there is also a 25 m. tall statue from Mazinger.

i don´t know if in any corner of the world, there is something like this for a cartoon character, it´s difficult to explain how popular this tv series was here.
All this generation still remember and loves it, a truly massive cultural phenomenon.

  6. I think Ford is not the person to decide this.  Force Awakens was made for a company called Disney and they decide what to do with its product.
Of course Ford could decide not to participate if the character don´t die, but Disney could decide, then, not to hire Ford, and Keep Han Solo alive,.

Han Solo is an all time hero, and this kind of heroes can´t die, at least this is how i feel it. Bad for Disney to accept that from Ford.

I grew up with Indiana Jones, I'm in my 50s now so he was a childhood hero along with rambo. I'll be honest with you guys, I was very hesitant to get excited for this movie because Spielberg was not directing. You're missing the two creative geniuses who made the movie and we just left with Harrison Ford which is good but Spielberg and Lucas were also the backbone of these movies. But the trailer reeled me in. I know a lot of people said the trailer really wasn't that good but for me it captured the essence of Indiana jones. I do agree with you though that no Spielberg has kept some people away but I'm still going to see it this weekend and I do believe I'm going to enjoy it.

Yeh, i´m also on my 50¨s and of course loved Indy. Temple of Doom is the only movie in my life i went 3 times in the first 3 weeks, and it´s sad to see Ford so old, but it´s like it is.
Of course Spielberg & Lucas was the right team, but we know what happened with Lucasfilm....

I think in some years Disney will recast Indy and they´ll try to get more money with the character, but i think will be very hard not to associate Indy with Ford, very diffciult, at least for people who loved the first three movies.

I hope you enjoy in theater watching it, i won´t go, Disney killed all my hopes after killing Han Solo, how can be this possible???

    I still can´t forgive this....

  8. I think the problem is that Ford is 80 y.o. for an action hero.
Cruise was 59 in Mav, and also the guy is in great shape for his age.
No kids will go to see a guy that can be their grandfather like an teen idol.

Some nostalgia is also broken after Crystal Skull and no Spielberg directing, this is also important in my opinion.

Sad for the character, because Indy is one of the biggest myths in movie history, it should end with Last Crusade, but studios want to squeeze every dollar and i think this is the result, such a shame,,,

Indeed Indonesia is an Islamic country but with no Islamic laws (only one province use it). Indonesia uses regular laws like other non Muslim countries. Therefore any kind of entertainment is free and not restricted unless it contains LGBT or some other violence stuff.

The main reason for the low cinema counts is the low income of Indonesian people. Many cinemas located only in big cities where middle or upper income people live. In the rural areas, cinemas is scarce. Many people still don’t choose cinema as their source of entertainment cause it’s not cheap.

But these days, Indonesia economy is growing rapidly and so does our box office (from MPAA report). So yeah cinemas future is looking bright and a number of cinemas is being built right now. So hopefully sometimes we can have decent numbers of it in comparison to our populations.

I understand better now, thanks.  Would be nice in a nxt future big numbers at least in admits from Indonesia, because with 250 M people a big hit will sell more than 25 M tickets, more than any European country and in the level of only Japan, China, India and the States.

Same in Indonesia. Whenever the new blockbuster releases, the old one loses more than half of its showtimes. Guaranteed to drop in 60% area. The only thing that can make the drop softer is if the new blockbusters flop and can’t fill their showtimes then the old one will get some back therefore softening its drop.

Cinema infrastructure is the problem here. A country about 250 million people but only have around 400 theatres with maximum around 7000 showtimes. So yeah, can’t meet the screen demands of blockbusters releasing every week.

    400!!!!!!!!

This is incredibly low, i didn´t imagine there are so little number of cinemas in such big country.
Maybe was forbidden for being an islamic country like Saudi Arabia?

Agreed. Almost doubling Tom Cruise's previous highest-grossing film, Fallout. I wouldn't be surprised if Paramount is already planning a sequel.

I´m sure paramount would love to make another sequel, but i guess Cruise, who is a smart guy, is not so happy with this plan, because he knows well that wouldn´t be so succesful like Maverick and he prefers to leave it like this, with a great memory from the franchise.

    So final number is $2.32B.

Absolutely amazing. It would’ve easily crossed $2.5 with actual China and Russia. Shame.

I wonder how bigger the total would’ve been with 2009 ER.

More than 3 B easily, inflation also counts and have passed 13 years since the first.
Anyway is a gigantic success, especially in Europe, where the moviegoing was really depressed since last 10 years and even more after 2020. It has doubled the number 2 of the last 10 years in many countries and this is a great great achivement.

Does anybody know what's the position of Avatar 2 in the all time ranking of Finland? Because reading some old comments I saw that the first wasn't even in the top 50

I really don´t know, but it seems far away from the top 10. The most recent movie in the top is Spectre in the 9th spot. The top 5, except Titanic, for sure, are 2 finnish and movies from the 70´s, so it seems that moviegoing in Finland has lost a lot of gas in 21st century...

Truly impressive especially in Europe, but wtf are some of those prices. Belgium, France, Finland and UK have a comparable economy to the North of Italy but their average ticket prices are like 50% higher... But it's also true the north have almost double average gdp than the south but ticket prices usually just 1 euro higher

This makes the data for Avatar 2 even more impressive. Besides digital platforms, smartphones and all this new entertainment and the very high prices is very remarkable those numbers.
I still think people love to go to see movies, at least in Spain, when companies and theatres make "day of the watcher" and the prices are very reduced, there are inmense queues in big cities.
I always thought if cinema will be cheaper, maybe we still have attendance numbers like 80´s or 90´s, because population now is bigger.

Wow, what a weekend! Family releases had fine increases (or, in Mario Bros' case, a near-flat hold, astonishing after the already strong OW), and with Suzume and Une belle Course there were two openers with a PTA>200 (Suzume additionaly with strong OD numbers); the new Musketeers movie otoh flopped as expected. Good news from domestic releases, Die drei ??? has now crossed 1,5mil, and Sonne und Beton 1,0mil.

In Austria, with rainy weather, once more even better numbers - Mario Bros. with a slight increase (should be at 400k total by Friday, crazy), John Wick 4 on #2 (already near 200k total) and Cocaine Bear nearly double as strong as in Germany.

Next weekend: Mario Bros. had two super weeks, but with holidays now over, numbers will decline faster (same goes for other family releases) - no problem, the movie has already surpassed expectations and is headed to at least 5mil total! No big openers, so holdovers should do fine (I'm curious about the next weeks for the D&D movie, after the lukewarm opening it managed very solid holds, seems to have generated some good WOM)

Anybody knows if ever was a drop like this for a second weekend with almost one million admits?
    This is really amazing!!!
