  1. Before continue on the SW, just settle some dust in 2015 first. --- Top 20 Gross Film in 2015 (counting movie showed between Dec 2014-Nov 2015, unit in billion JPY) 1 Jurassic World (Toho-Towa) 9.26+ 2 Big Hero 6 (Disney) 9.16 3 Yo-Kai Watch: It's the Secret of Birth, Nyan! 2. Followup: I forgot to account the high price of pre-sale ticket of Girls and Panzar (the most expensive one is 3500 yen). So they came first instead in terms of gross in smallest margin for Sat-Sun. Sun-Mon is a clear win for Little Prince through.
  3. Japan is still holiday today so might got 3 day report instead, but some interesting data on Monday. From usual locations (incl AEON), Raintree finished slightly higher Girls and Panzar, and Little Prince not far behind on Sat/Sun ONLY. But this however, changed drastically on Monday as Little Prince takes big lead on Monday while Raintree and Girls and Panzar were under performing compared to first two days (both two were even lower than holdovers, particularly the latter as seeing some site running out of gifts on Monday). Or more accurately saying, Little Prince had a bit rough start on Saturday, but leading in Sunday and Monday. So I believe the final of this week is Sat-Sun: 1- Raintree 2- Little Prince 3- Girls and Panzar I believe Little Prince could finished 2nd due to Girls and Panzar's release is too limited (under 90, and particularly lacking AEON and non-usual participation). So my prediction is either Little Prince ranked 2nd in Gross only, or both gross and attendance Sat-Mon: 1- Little Prince 2- Raintree 3- Mozu P.S. Hunger Game performed very poorly on 10th place. Forgot about that.
  4. Nothing, the most news I received most for this week is Girls and Panzer Movie.
  5. OK, just one VERY important note on SW, as presale of premiere had started today (should have one on SW thread but reminder) Some TOHO cinema (confirmed 8) branch has raised the price 200 yen (i.e. 2000 yen per ticket) for normal tickets.
  6. Just additional info (perhaps you know that, but just point out) Love Live! The School Idol Movie is already the best gross among Shochiku distributed film since 2010, (Ranked 5th for films aired 2000 onwards).
  7. Followup on previous page: As expected, Love Live! The School Idol Movie had broken the previous record of 2.08b by Puella Magi Madoka Magica the Movie: Rebellion's record before entering weekend. It finished this week in 2.2b (2,211,552,340 JPY) Although still 2 weeks of gifts remaining (I assume, consider Film Roll reprint has not announced yet), considering major screen cuts in this week due to long showings, 2.5b+ maybe too difficult, but 2.4b is quite likely. But one issue for sure is, no matter how this will finish at, the pros/cons of weekly gifts will leave lots of discussion in future Japanese movie industry.
  8. As speaking the yesterday's topic, I got the information of gifts they had given out in Madoka and Love Live! (K-on! has other system in parallel to weekly gifts), and the gross data if available (BTW, I made mistakes on weeks of Madoka Rebellion's rotation.) 9. I had not checked Date A Live's official but the answer is likely yes. Of course, the effect will only work for extremely popluar animation (like the 3 I mentioned) and quite large number (about 80+) of screens, otherwise it will likely not producing desired effects.
  10. Thanks. Basically you're right, the gifts are changed in the start of each weekend, but really while stock lasts. Which means you might still get gift on weekdays, or you don't got them in weekend because they are out of stock. Taking Love Live! as example again, usual location will usually run out of gifts on Saturday night or even earlier so usually will see sharp drop on gross in Sunday. And distributer had to reprint some of the gifts to stop people putting them on auction site selling at unreasonably high price because some of the gifts are given out in random basis, which some Japanese writers critizied. (They did prepared quite lot of film rolls, many location's stock did managed to withstand the 3-day weekend-holiday, but distributer decided to reprint them anyway)
  11. Just a bit note on Love Live! The School Idol Movie, and a certain extent, most of the movie adaptions based on existing television animation series, particularly late-night animations. Speaking of the aforentioned movie itself, it is set to overtake Puella Magi Madoka Magica the Movie: Rebellion (2013)'s 2.08B JPY record as being a highest gross film based on a late-night animation. Consider the two's gap is only 11M JPY, it should happen on this weekend, if not already happened in weekdays. However, this is not the main topic talking about here because I found nobody (at least in this thread) has accounted a usual strategy used by many animation series' movie adaptions: Entrance Gift changing on weekly basis. Actually most of the late-night animations' movie adaptions had used such promotion strategy (this include Madoka Rebellion and K-On! Movie(2011)) so it is nothing new, but recently many Japanese reporters had questioned such promotion strategy, comparing that to usual promotional strategy used by AKB. I am not judging if this strategy is right or not, but in Japan community is widely accepted that weekly based entrance gift has been playing a important role of gross of animation series' movie adaption) In addition, among the usual gifts given out, film roll pieces is particulatly popular among fans. (Taking Love Live! The School Idol Movie as example, +31% gross on week 6, the week giving out film roll pieces) I think in future, Weekly Basis Entrance Gift should be taken into factor when accounting for late-night animation movie adaptions. Particularly if the gift that week is film roll pieces. === Additional information on Weekly Basis Entrance Gift's span - Including week that film roll pieces is given on current top 3 late-night animations' adaption. Madoka Rebellion: 8 Weeks (no campaign on Week 6/7/10, film roll pieces on Week 2 and 3) Love Live: 8+1 Weeks (film roll pieces on Week 6 + one more week TBC) K-On!:10 Weeks (film roll pieces were distributed by redeem coupon - required 3 watches)
