  1. I will say that so far its a better score than usual when it comes to how these female driven blockbusters are treated on the site but it is defiantly not a perfectly good score on IMDB There is clearly some review bombing going on, but thankfully if the trolls keep trying to hurt the films score it will eventually trigger their new rating system that detects unusual voting activity and imdb will step in to put in end to the review bombing just as they did with the little mermaid
  2. in a later segment of the show Faulkner brought on conservative commentator Tomi Lahren to talk about the barbie movie, and surprisingly even she thought that the criticism being made against the film was way overblown you know things have gotten silly at fox when Tomi Lahren of all people has to tell them that they should not be losing their minds over a movie about a doll lol
  3. There is no doubt in my mind that a Feminist Disney Barbie movie would be getting a lot more hate right about now Now obviously WB Barbie is getting some hate on YouTube, but the haters can only go so far when it comes to attacking the film since it is PG13. Ultimately this movie was marketed to an older audience, and there is no way anybody in their right mind can look at Nicki Minaj barbie music video and claim that this film is being made for little kids lol Since Disney would never make a pg13 barbie movie that ironically would have opened them up to more attacks. People would have been accusing the movie of indoctrinating young children, especially if Disney would have cast any lbgt actors in the film and the republicans who are currently running for president would have also gone after the film since it would play into the larger narrative about the culture wars
  4. Honestly I would have been happy if the movie had gotten a 70 on Rotten tomatoes, but it looks like is going to end up in the 80s or 90s all in all congrats to everyone involved with this film since it looks like warner bros finally got the major hit that they desperately needed after the flash was such a huge disaster for them
  5. I have no doubt that the film will have some humorous moments largely thanks to Ryan gosling crazy performance as ken, but I am not under any illusion that Barbie is the type of film that would ever have me laughing out loud. At best I my chuckle at some scenes, but overall I am far more interested in the film for its more dramatic elements than I am in its comedy Honestly, I'm kind of hoping this movie is more like Greta Gerwig previous film lady bird and less like a straightforward comedy parody
  6. I feel like if that was the case Grace Randolph would have already tweeted about it by now since she had already been talking about a potential conservative backlash against the film, but the fact the movie has apparently won her over makes me think that the film may not be as a politically divisive as some feared it would be Honestly, if the movie becomes a massive hit its more likely that those crazy YouTubers will simply use its success as a way to bash both Disney and the little mermaid. So sadly be prepared for a lot videos praising barbie for keeping the character blond and white while trashing Disney for casting a person of color as the little mermaid
  7. I have to admit that Randolph very positive reaction to Barbie caught my guard, especially since she had been saying that she thought that the films so called progressive politics would scare away more conservative audiences To be honest she seemed to be hyping up the narrative of a conservative backlash against the film, but now that she has actually seen the movie it apparently turned out to be a far better film than even she expected. I guess the so called progressive politics In this movie must have not been that much of a big deal if even Randolph of all people is now calling it one of the greatest films she has ever seen
  8. based on Greta Gerwig previous films, I would be shocked if this was nothing but a silly comedy If this is anything like her other films, there will defiantly be more serious and dramatic moments in this movie
  9. That was the main point that i was trying to make in my original post There is no evidence of any critic doing anything wrong when it comes to how they are treating the Barbie movie and for the reason I agree with you that the discussion on this topic is pointless and serves no purpose when it comes to talking about the films box-office
  10. I have said before and I will say it again unless someone has actual evidence that any critic is being paid off by the WB or at the very least can show that the critic is giving barbie favorable reviews in order to please WB than the entire conversation about this is conspiratorial and really has nothing to do with the film pointal box office
  11. Your original post was not about an 'influencer-only screenings that took place on 23rd-24th June. You specifically said that once the review embargo lifts only some cherry picked critics will see it and the rest of the critics will see the film next week. So again this is clearly conspiratorial unless you have some actual evidence that these so called cherry picked critics are being paid off by WB
  12. So basically you are claiming that instead of WB simply just waiting to lift the review embargo on the day of the film's release they instead engaged in this elaborate conspiracy theory that apparently now even involves so called cherry-picked critics who are also in on' the scam as well It honestly feels like things are getting sillier the closer we get to this film's official release day lol
  13. But on the flip side if they were not confident there is no chance they would be letting the review Embargo Lift several days before the film's official release day
  14. That is going to come down to your own personal taste' when it comes to comedy Even if critics gave the movie a 99 on RT, you personally may still think that film was painfully unfunny because by the end of the day humor is very subjective
  15. I'm outraged I can't believe that a movie called Barbie is treating Ken as if he is nothing more than an accessory for a toy that was primarily aimed at appealing to little girls lol
  16. I don't think it was any worse than the humor in the MCU If anything, I actually thought it was better since barbie having flat fleet actually plays into the main plot of the film unlike some of the random and pointless jokes in many of the MCU/DC films
  17. I had no idea they were even making a barbie movie until I saw those first set images of Gosling as Ken. I agree with you that those set images defiantly kicked off the buzz and awareness for this film
  18. The map that is in the trailer is utterly ridiculous and not remotely realistic, but as you said maybe there is another map in the film that we don't know about yet because that is the only way this controversy makes any sense to me at all
  19. To be clear you were not derailing the thread at all Beauce you brought up an issue that very well could effect the film's box-office. As silly as I'm may personally think the controversy over the map is there is no question that this will still have an impact on the film's box-office and there is nothing wrong with you, bringing that fact up no matter how much I may not like it lol I guess We will just have to wait and see how big of an impact this will have on the film overall box office in the end
  20. It's a joke because nobody in their right mind should take this map seriously lol Let's just be honest about this, the map is ridiculous and is obviously not meant to be realistic at all. I don't for 1 second think that the people who made this map was thinking about the Geopolitics of Asia. frankly If WB knew this silly map would be such an issue, they probably would not have even had the scene in the movie in the first place and It definitely would have not been in their trailers if they thought it was going to cause them some PR problems
  21. I don't buy this at all now dont got me wrong, I'm not saying that WB are not capable of bending of backwards in order to please china because they definitely are, but in this case That silly map was clearly meant as nothing more than a dumb joke As I said in my last post, The map looks like a child drew it, and it's clearly not meant to be taken seriously at all. They can edit the film if they want but honestly I can't see them going out of their way to address this ridiculous controversy
  22. It amazes me how seriously they are talking a map that literally looks like it was made by a child lol It would be one thing if they were trying to make an accurate map, but clearly this map is not meant to be taken seriously at all, especially since it was created by a character who obviously knows very little about the outside world. I have to believe that these politicians who are attacking the film over this deep down know full well just how silly this controversy really is
  23. You act as if Barbie marketing team is doing something new or revolutionary when in fact they are just copying the same marketing formula that worked so well for the Deadpool films. Now don't get me wrong I give the marketing team a lot of credit for how well they are selling this film, but nothing they are doing is truly game changing There have been many movies that have been promoted ironically and desperately tried to become memes or trend on social media. this is all nothing new and even if the Barbie movie flops there will still be films that use similar marketing tactics since they know that is has already worked with the Deadpool films
  24. I don't see the point of shaming people for being excited about the Barbie, nor do I get why some are upset over the fact that Mattel has other movies in the production. By the end of the day, if future Mattel movies are nothing more than bad glorified toy commercials audiences will treat those films the same way they are currently treating the DCEU and other failed franchises As for barbie Greta Gerwig clearly has not forgotten about Barbie long and controversial history since one of the trailers literally says "if you hate barbie this movie if for you" lol
