I agree that the whole idea of "heroes making mistakes and them backfiring in their faces" deconstruction was interesting, but the sequence itself did not work. It stopped the movie dead for something that felt completely unrelated, and it made little sense as there's a ton of other ways they could've worked around the whole tracker shit anyway. It felt like a side quest in a video game, and you would've missed almost nothing by writing it out completely. Could've accomplished similar results in simpler ways.

Also, the way you talk makes you sound like the Elrich type of pompous snob that is all like "TLJ took risks and was subversive, therefore it's a good movie". Killing off Frodo in the 1st 2 minutes of Return Of The King would've been a risk too and I don't think anyone would've been on board with it. I think TLJ is solid, mind you, but Canto Bight was a mistake.

First bolded sentence is true. But I enjoy sidequests and world building stuff so I can't fault it too much, tbh. On the second, nah, I believe both to be true but I don't think the second one is necessarilly a consequence of the other.

Not really, cause X sequence (which I think I know what you're talking about) actually had plot and character evolution purpose, while Canto Bight, apart from introducing us to Benicio Del Toro... who served very little relevance in the movie, was a big preachy waste of time.

It has huge relevance. Canto Bight appears as a sidequest for the heroes to get what they need to save the day and ends up being a major mistake that costed hundreds of lives. It's all part of the deconstruction TLJ expertly manages and that has fanboys' panties in a twist. It's a huge adventure film trope being wonderfully subverted.

I think they'll definitely be better than CW or AoU. I'm just using those overstuffed movies as comparison cause this one flows much better and is easier to follow despite so many characters and locations. Also, feels really big and important (unlike the other 2 rather filler-ish movies) and is more fun and emotional. It actually has really good tonal shifts (something that CW in particular doesn't).

I meant that I don't think the GA will hate this, particularly. My casuals were thrilled and got kinda what they expected.

What do you think of his previous films like Nice Guys and especially Iron Man 3?

I enjoyed them a lot. I actually expect The Predator to feature a precocious child and barely veiled contempt among the male co-stars.

My favorite Black film by far is Kiss Kiss Bang Bang, tho. Personal top 10.

It should be noted that the Disney press conference is timesharing with a "State of the Industry" workshop. Disney's conferences also go on the short side, usually consisting of "Hey, look how good we're doing, here's a few minutes/screening of one of our movies." Last year was just a showing of Pirates 5, and I think 2016 and 2015 were just showing 40 minutes of Dory and Inside Out. So basically, don't expect anything special with Disney.

So probably Ranger Solo or Inc2 stuff. Maybe Chris Robin trailer?

With the Thursday figures, wie might see some pretty good holds for Rampage, Quiet Place and Co. More often then not movies die before a huge monster opens (the pre- TFA/RO/TLJ weekends were especially dead), but this might not be the case here.

How good should AQP hold to make 200m a possibility?

Schumer was paid 13 million by Netflix to do her standup.  The other two got 40 and 60 million.  When you are making these absurd amounts, sorry if I don't cry for you while I struggle to by a house of my measly yearly salary.

I don't get this argument tho. If they can earn those amounts why should they give them up on behalf of a corporation? Netflix obviously thinks their labor is worth it.

Also, visible examples of equality matter.

People called Nelson Mandela an extremist. And John Brown. And Michael Collins. I'm just saying.

And that was propaganda. Someone is not an extremist or a stable genius just by label.

Really taking things too far beyond a compromise suck. As a Latin American, I'll stand by that extremist left can be as evil as extremist right anyday. It's not my fault American politics are so fucked that your left would be center everywhere else.
