This looks ridiculous. I can't wait to watch it.

Wonderful film. I can't wait to watch it again. Perfect pacing.

Usually bringing back a director who disappointed the first time is not a good idea.
The DCEU has shown us that, for some reason, WB loves doing just that though.

Was TR well received? I thought reaction to that movie was a big fat "meh".

So happy for Paramount, Emily Blunt and Jim from The Office.
I'm watching it Sunday with a party of like 15. I've been pimping it for weeks and now my gang turned it into an event. Although horror doesn't need help in this market.

It was
SpoilerThe dialogue between Sho, Wade and H when they "kidnapped" Sorrento. Felt tacked on and unnecessary. A typical "our audience is stupid" move.

Theater was packed for this. Movie was not great, but watchable. It had the typical Hollywood smarmimess and predictable emotional beats. It was a standard by-the-numbers blockbuster. My friends thought it was ok and "a masterpiece next to Tomb Raider or Pacific Rim 2".
One exposition heavy scene was shit and everyone hated it. I thought Spielberg was better than that.

Paramount sure could use a hit. Nice.

I loved every frame. I waited for more than two years to watch this film. Worth it.

Did that many people die this year to the point they had to put this on 1.25x speed???
I don't know. Everyone was so focused on the ones outed as pervs to keep count of the dead.

Watched Gangs of New York tonight because it was one of the last major DDL joints and Marty movies I hadn't seen and YIKES. I love you Marty but this might be his worst major movie ever. Just a total mess of ideas that don't go anywhere. Brings up alot of stuff about race, class, country, pride, and I don't even know what and just doesn't say anything about it. It can't even decide whether Bill the Butcher is a noble, complex bad guy or just pure evil from scene to scene. Also, Cameron Diaz is the worst. Also also, this movie ends up being a sympathetic ode to rioters and the gangs but uhhhhhh they lynched 120 black people while shouting racial epithets?? DDL is awesome, and the production design and scope is so ambitious and outstanding. But otherwise this felt like a complete misfire.
It came out on my 17th birthday, so I forgive its flaws.
Man, carnival, duuuudeeee. I had to put up with my best friend's brother-in-law's racist homophobic rant. He was very drunk, so every time I told him I disagreed with his crap he just laughed and kept going.
Drunk people suck.

When your team wins in a continental tournament in the middle of Carnival and you question why is that you're trying to not drink until Easter......

So Paramount thinks sci-fi masterpieces mindfucks are too difficult to grasp for non american audiences ?
Duly noted.
Not Paramount. But the creators of Geostorm do. It's been mentioned before in the thread. I hope you missed it or that you are American, otherwise you're proving them right.

So now that we know what went down with Cloverfield, what does that situation tell us about the quality of this film?
Reports are that Skydance thought it was too smart for the plebs so they tried to dumb it down. Rudin had final cut and said no, so Paramount had to get the Netflix deal done to placate Skydance. So, it seems like it's a case of it being too good.

3 noms and she's not even 25 yet. I do think she'll win eventually though unless she starts gravitating more towards popcorn fare.
Like The Host? *shudders*
Next year she has a Chekhov adaptation and is also playing Mary Stuart (with Margot Robbie playing Elizabeth Tudor). One of those is good and she's getting number 4.

Yall really expect Ronan to keep getting nommed every 3 years like she's Streep?
She's 23 and already has 3 down. You don't think she can get 7 more in 40 years?

What?!
She's so the Academy's type. They'll nominate her at least once every 2/3 years.

Good question: which of this year's Oscar-nominated actors are most likely to return?
For example, I doubt Metcalf is ever gonna be in the conversation again.
Ronan will probably reach doble digits noms in her lifetime. I expect Timmy T to return plenty of times too.

Proud Corazon was far superior, and it's a shame it's probably the least popular song in the soundtrack.
I favor the La Llorona song

hot take: Remember Me isn't that good of a song and pretty much every song on TGS's soundtrack is great so the world will be better if it wins.
Scorching, but nah. TGS is like every bad pop song ever condensed into a single soundtrack. Unoriginal and trite.
-
Metcalf losing that Oscar is gonna be the night's second biggest travesty. Remember Me losing to that TGS pop abortion will be first.

The Conjuring was in the summer. But AQP's drop is in line with Split's, percentage-wise.
