I won't be on the internet this weekend, preparing for the Japan Expo 2018 so I hope a good soul will come here to give us the numbers about ANt-Man 2, The incredibles 2 and Jurassic World 2! :D

Have a nice weekend everyone ;)

It'll be a pretty calm weekend in Brazil once again, allowing IW, Deadpool 2 and Solo to gain some more additional $....or at least I'd like to say this but the World Cup is coming so..

Isn't JW2 opening this weekend? I really don't know, it's pretty confusing. The official posters and the TV comercials here in Brazil say it's opening on June 21, but there are already many theatres with tickets available for tomorrow, and in some other places (for example the theatre I usually go) you can only buy tickets for June 16 (saturday). I have no idea what's happening, and how the OW is going to be counted.

    BRAZIL BOX OFFICE REVENUES

    2006 : $351m

    2007 : $360m

    2008 : $369m

    2009 : $490m

    2010 : $637m

    2011 : $727m

    2012 : $732m

    2013 : $795m

    2014 : $830m

    2015 : $500m

    2016 : $784m

    2017 : $844m

2017 was the highest level ever in USD but with the current exchange rate I'm not sure 2018 will increase in USD...in local currency it's pretty sure though.

    Interesting! What happened in 2015?

  4. Hey @Fullbuster. This is the latest info I could find about the number of theaters/cinemas/screens in Brazil: https://g1.globo.com/pop-arte/cinema/noticia/sao-paulo-abriga-13-das-salas-de-cinema-do-pais.ghtml

The numbers are from 2015, and according to G1/ANCINE we had 3160 screens back in that year. We're probably close to 3500 now, hopefully.

I couldn't find anything about the number of theaters though. Also in 2015 only 383 of the 5570 municipalities had at least 1 theater/cinema, a small jump from 2013. The state of São Paulo alone has over 1/3 of all the screens in the country.

Wow, look at this chart. IW dropped almost 75% during the trucker's strike weekend.

  6. Solo is selling almost nothing in the room with biggest screen on the theater I'm used to go.

Here's how it sold so far for the screening that's about to start: http://prntscr.com/jmyfse (sorry, I don't know how to post pics directly here in the forum).

And if you take a look at the next screenings for the rest of the weekend almost only the same seats are already taken (proof: http://prntscr.com/jmyhrj that's for the one starting at 21h30, which is 6 hours away). So I assume these seats aren't available for some reason, and not actually bought tickets. Which means Solo probably sold 5 or 6 tickets for the next screening so far. For the night it's even worse, around 3 or 4. :(

The strike isn't over. Media lied. The Government tried to force a fake deal, but the truckers confirm the strike continues.

Things are far from over, unfortunately.

Yeah, yesterday it looked like media was really pushing the narrative that the government made a good deal and the truckers should leave. They didn't (and so far I think they're right btw).

    Solo isn't saved anymore :(

I'm kidding but I really didn't want to see Solo failing that bad (so far). It's not a Star Wars movie I've ever wanted to watch, but I still love the franchise (including TLJ) and wish to see it doing well.

  8. If the truckers' strike continue through the weekend... Solo's opening is going to be even lower (if that's possible). It's affecting EVERYTHING, especially considering no one is going to be brave enough to use the car this weekend to go to the cinema and pay the current price of the gas IF it is still available in most gas stations until there (some places are already abusively selling 1L for R$8,99).

Just awful for the movie. :(

  9.

Infinity War finally crossed U$60M! :ohmygod:

So U$2.9M for this friday-sunday. I don't know how much IW did on thursday, I only know the movie made U$1.1M on wed and thursday COMBINED.

This means the weekend was probably around U$3.4M I guess... Pretty good in face of direct competition!

  10. Does anyone know what's the highest grossing animated movie in Brazil?

I feel like The Incredibles is VERY popular here, Incredibles 2 can surprise us. It maybe will have a chance to beat Finding Dory (U$35M) even with worse exchange rates and bigger competition (JW2 is opening only ONE week earlier). The views of I2's dubbed in portuguese trailer is much higher than Finding Dory's (6.1M x 3.9M), I know that's not a very good comparation but still, like I said it just feels Incredibles is huge here...

Yeah, I feel like Brazil really doesn't have enough teathers for more than one movie to do big numbers at the same time. My small town only has one movie screen and they are ditching IW completely for Deadpool. At least I got to watch it 3 times before it went away.

Yeah, all the big screens (IMAX, Cinemark's XD, Cinepolis MACRO, the ones with D-BOX seats, the VIP ones etc) are going to go to Deadpool 2 this weekend and Solo next weekend. By the time Solo opens IW will only be able to keep the small ones.

By the way I watched IW on the IMAX screen here in São Paulo and it was amazing. The screen is so huge, you have to keep moving your head horizontally to be able to see 2 or more characters on the same scene sometimes. The only problem was that the head of the guy in front of you blocks 50% of the subtitles out of your view, so I couldn't pay 100% attention on the movie because I had to make some efforts to be able to read what they were saying. Next time I'll be in the first row to assure no one is going to block my view, even if I need to keep my head up the whole time...

    IW

    BRAZIL $56.8m. +$0.6m Tuesday.

It's starting to seriously slow, and just before Deadpool 2.

It will pass 60m but 63m isn't guaranteed.

     Don't say that. :sadno:

And actually The Avengers is at U$63.9M, will be hard to beat it.

    +$1m this Monday then!

So the weekend's total was lower than the number reported sunday? Because according to BOR it finished at U$55.6M on the weekend, and that table says it got to U$56.2M on monday (so +U$0.6M instead of U$1M).

If it was indeed U$1M that's amazing!

  14. So Age of Ultron added U$12M more to its run after its third weeekend (which was U$5.1M), Infinity War made U$6.8M on its third weekend... Could it do U$15M more and reach U$70M? I don't think so, but it's interesting to think about.

Mad Max: Fury Road was the first "big" competition against Age of Ultron, and it opened on AoU's 4th weekend. Just like Deadpool 2 is going to open on Infinity War's 4th weekend, but Deadpool 2 is much bigger, of course.

And on IW's 5th weekend we have Han Solo... while Age of Ultron had nothing (only the opening of the Poltergeist's remake which made U$5M total).

So yeah, IW's competition is much bigger and is going to affect the movie a lot. That's why I think it'll "only" add U$10M~12M from now on. But that's enough to go above The Avengers.

    What do you guys think?
