well kids movies in theatres or TV all dubbed....3D movies are 95% dubbedall other regular movies are with subtitles....TV - everything is dubbed, but only state TV and few commercial TV's, not talking about satelite TVwell maybe it will be here too, to have an option to choose :)MarekReading all your comments and I am thinking India is better off. At least everybody has the option to watch a movie in English or dubbed, both theatrically or on TV.
-
they are playing mostly on commercial channels later, but of course dubbed....on payed channels like HBO you can have movie with subtitles, but also they will play it dubbedmaybe people here are lazy to watch original language on TV hmmMarekAnd also, if the subbed movies are more popular theatrically, why are they never shown on TV?
-
yes, you are correct about TV , 95% is dubbed, in original language we have just few movies on second state channel, all other TV stuff is dubbedMarekI'm talking more about TV, because literally everything is dubbed. So I just assumed that it applied to the theatrical versions too.
-
well I wonder when did you last time saw anything in Slovakia or Czech Republic, only movies dubbed are for KIDS and most of 3D movies, almost everything else is with subtitles...MarekI wonder if it's a Central European thing because they dub everything in the Czech Republic and Slovakia too.
-
yeah of course, sureeeNone of them are good.

+1MarekIt will, without any problems.

good point Baumer, +1But how many other re-releases do better than a 20-25 mill opening weekend?

no way in hell ??? you've got some magic mirror ?There is no way in hell that this is reaching 100m WW. It'll be lucky to touch 40m DOM.

+1000MarekEven if I disagree with some of his creative decisions (mainly in the prequels), he's absolutely right. He's the creator, and he has every right to change things as he wants. That being said, he should have just stopped reading the Internet. The voice of the dissenters is always the loudest. The silent majority typically goes unheard, as was shown by the fact that -- despite four consecutive disappointing films among fan boys (five if you count Jedi) -- they were all still some of the most successful of the decade.Curious to see what he does with these smaller films.

Avatar was #21 on the chart with an index of 52 or 52% of Finding Nemo's DVD volume from its one time 2003 release.
With Finding Nemo due out next year that will probably be a monster catalog title for Blu-ray and/or DVD sales.
Pirates of the Caribbean Curse of the Black Pearl was also just behind Finding Nemo , but its been re-released at least 4 times individually. If boxed sets were included for POTC CBP it probably would be #1 beating Finding Nemo but Nielsen Videoscan doesn't combine data like that.

I am sure it's over 6-7 mil at least, for sureAVATAR did 2.7 mil units in 4 days :http://www.highdefdigest.com/news/show/Disc_Announcements/Fox/Avatar_Is_The_Best_Selling_Blu-ray_of_All-Time/4599I will try to find current number for AVATAR (blu-ray)That's not true.
-
so, 400mil + can be done, right ?Marek

Agree Marek..

you can't compare it, year 2010 and 2011 is far behind year 2008 and 2009, sales of DVDs are on big decline, even if blur-ray is getting there, but can't cover decline of DVD :(MarekYet TDK is 6th.
-
+1MarekGuys remember it's a decade worth of sales. Avatar's only been out for two years or one year or whatever.
-
there are so many factors making DVD numbers smaller and smaller, and Blu-ray can't cover DECLINE of PHYSICAL MEDIA,unfortunatelly Blu-ray will never be as big as DVD were, and in coming years digital downloads will take over....I hope for sake of quality of presentation that blu-rays will be here another 5-10 years hopefully.....we should make also TOP TEN for DVD+Blu-ray, that will make better top ten to compare with years like 2007-2008-2009Marek

+1Well if you consider there is neither a Bond nor a Bourne film currently in theaters then yes he is.
