Sam Smith's whiny, screechy song is AWFUL. They should have had Lana Del Rey, Lady Gaga, anyone else instead.
I think Sam Smith has done a great job, and good to see a Bond song finally reach number one in the UK.

No one predicted Skyfall's ultimate box office and critical success from its trailers and marketing. So, the doom and gloom from some about Spectre is crazy. The film looks great. Could Spectre gross less than Skyfall? Of course. But I think Spectre will be Daniel Craig's Thunderball. As far as cinematography and artistry, Spectre looks better than Age of Ultron, Jurassic World and Ghost Protocol.
I agree. Connery's top movie was Thunderball. Roger Moore's was Moonraker. Piece Brosnan was Die Another Day. Each actor had to wait until their fourth movie to get their highest gross.
Quantum of Solace should have taken more, but the plot was not satisfying. Had that had the same quality as Casino Royale and Skyfall, it would have taken a lot more money, and we would see that the Daniel Craig movies had incrementally increased with each film. There is no reason to think that will be reversed.
In North America, every Bond movie has increased its gross since 1989.

The song is currently number one on iTunes in USA and UK.

Skyfall was the biggest hit song for the bonds in forever and obviously they want that repeat. this doesn't take off the same way they'll try something different. and I don't think it will. Sam Smith's had a couple hits but he's never felt like that huge deal in pop culture that adele felt like a couple years ago.
Sam Smith is a huge deal. He has 1.4 billion views between his top three songs on Youtube.

It was a dumb observation either way. Elba is a sexy, suave, elegant man.
I am seeing that he really could be Bond. Anyway, I think Horowitz is just playing the media with his comments.

I am absolutely disgusted that liberal Hollywood has a hard on on Steve Jobs, yet those films never mention the horrific working conditions that allow the Apple ( & its competitors & lots of other industries from other worldwide corporations) gizmos to be made.
Keep the blinders, guys.
No Biggie.
Since when has Hollywood or mainstream America cared about the fate of people outside America? Half of America doesn't even care if there are people in need in America who don't have access to healthcare or essential safety net programs. Steve Jobs was a visionary and a force of nature who changed the world, not once but twice. Of course that is a story worth telling.

This movie is a terrible idea. I have a bad feeling about it, partly because of what happened to Robin Williams. At least come up with a new title.

Will Smith's appeal isn't what it used to be. His star power has declined in the last couple of years. They really need a cool new star in the cast to ensure this is a hit.

Compare the mood and tone of the Spectre trailer to Mission 5, or other spy movies, or even earlier Bond movies. The Daniel Craig Bonds have established a clear identity, a brand that spells out that the effort is there to make a quality film, not another bulk-standard action movie. There is a depth that goes beyond evil villains and explosions. Yes the key ingredients are still there, but there is more below the surface.

This Bond movie keeps getting better!
It was initially hoped last year that another role could be sought for her but as the script developed the characters begun to move in a different direction.
Cruz will only appear in the pre-titles and she will join the production in May when they head to Mexico for a week's filming.
The character details check out with the scripts.

Perhaps the cold weather may have suppressed that number, in which case the weekend figure could be even better.

He can feel a lot of thrusting between his legs, and I am talking about the scooter motor.

Seeing as its a new franchise its more line with the former.
As long as it is good quality, good fun and has good marketing.

I think one more film after Spectre then Craig will step down. He's 46 now and I doubt he'll want to do another Bond film once he turns 50,
Why? What happens to a man when he turns the magic number of 50?

Wasn't Craig ontracted for another 2 after Skyfall? Or are they just doing it on a film by film basis? Wouldn't be surprisedif he has another one in him after SPECTRE.
I have read that as well. I think as long as women still think he's hot and the movies are making a billion dollars(ish) per movie, they would be foolish not to keep paying him a bucket load and asking him back for more, although there may be a time when he might not want to of course.

I seriously think that the 2 most successful Bond castings, and you agree with me on this, Connery & Craig, are the most physical and sexualized of the actors. Hoult is a promising young actor, I like him as beast in XMEN movies. But he is lacking these attributes.
OK, people like oldish, grandfatherly Roger Moore but that doesn't mean hardcore fans and more discerning moviegoers like him. He embodies the least likable kind of British "stiff upper lip"-ness
Michael Fassbender is my choice. Have you seen him in Inglorious Basterds , already playing a character who spies for the Allies?
I think Fassbender is a very good actor and I can see him as Bond. But I think the mindset of the Bond producers has changed. They want to create meaningful and artistic movies, as well as entertainment that makes big money. When they think about movies after Craig, they will think less about an actor to take over the character, as defined by Craig, and more about what they are going to do with Bond next.
Craig is making Bond his own, receiving top marks from critics and audiences. When Craig is replaced, they will ask: What does this new actor bring to the role? What does he do that is better than Craig? What does he do that is different? A reboot that puts Bond at a younger age will give a fresh look to the series, attract younger audiences and, importantly, limit direct comparisons to Craig.

I can't see the producers casting someone as young as 30 as Bond considering Bond is meant to be a seasoned agent hence why I think they are more likely to cast someone in their late 30s, Craig was 37 when he was announced as the new Bond so I think they'll go for someone who is a similar age.
Pierce Brosnan was 33 when they wanted him for The Living Daylights, Connery 31 in Dr No. Lazenby 28. Also, note the trend of younger leads in reboots, generally. I think Hoult would be in that age range by the time Craig retires,

Nah....Hoult is too straight to be Bond. Cavill could be interesting but even he is still a little too straight for a spy who has to operate in a deceitful world, ie. he has to be comfortable with being deceitful
This is a reply to Zackzack, Crusader and Jonwo
When they were looking for the first Bond actor, they considered actors like James Mason and Cary Grant - actors who were very English and upper-class. When they went for Sean Connery, people said they were crazy, he was too rough and too Scottish. Even Ian Fleming was not convinced, but it was an inspirational piece of casting. Sean Connery was sex-on-legs in the 1960s. Women fell for him and men wanted to be like him. Bond became a phenomena.
Since then the casting of Bond has been about playing it for safety, until Daniel Craig. People said you can't have a craggy blond Bond. There was an uproar, but again, the casting was an inspiration and moved Bond to another level.
I believe the producers will not cast another bulk-standard, bland, actor to replace Craig, largely based on looks. They know that edge comes from casting an actor who not only brings something new, but who can own and redefine the role. Consider the casting of Doctor Who over the past decade--not a succession of bland actors to fit a preconceived mold, but actors who can be established in the role in their own right because of their unique qualities, more than a continuation of actors who if you blur your eyes are all much the same. I believe that is where modern sequel casting is today. Idris Elba could fit that criteria, or a younger actor who is far from bland and generic and who can bring a new dimension to the role. That is why I nominate Nicholas Hoult.

The guy I want to see as Bond is Nicholas Hoult. He would be Bond in his 30s if Craig does a fifth movie. I think he has a look (slightly weird with an intensity about him) that would give him an edge as Bond. In the Jaguar commercials in which he plays a Q-type of character, I actually think he is a step nearer to what could be an interesting interpretation of Bond.

The population of North Korea is 25 million. What would it take to get a DVD (dubbed in Korean and make it playable in audio on a CD player too) to every household in North Korea?

I can't believe Sony are releasing this online now AFTER hundreds of movie theaters agree to show it, thereby reducing demand. Would the theaters have been so willing to show it if they knew Sony were going to screw them?

The Man From Uncle could be another Bond/Mission/Bourne or another Jack Ryan 4/Die Hard 5. Statistically, it will most likely fall into the second category.
