1- You guys keep pointing put how weak SMH's performance is when it has the same legs of GotG2 and Logan. So, yeah. There's definitely some bias going on.
2- Kids love GotG2 and it got positive reviews. I'm not sure why the 6th Spider-man movie that followed the most hated Spider-man movie in history needed to make over 350 m or get Avengers legs to prove its a major success for Sony and Marvel Studios.
A Spider-man reboot soon after ASM2 was not locked to do 200+ m.
3- Iron Man isn't as popular domestically as people think in here seem to think it is. The fact the characters over involvement was one of the biggest critiques of the marketing and that he is the character people want/expect to die in Avengers is a bit of a clue

But Downey Jr.
Iron Man works abroad. Its strange to compare comments on social media from China etc who are excited about iron man spider man team up and then from Americans etc when the trailers and marketing started where the comments about Iron Man seemed to be all about him taking over the movie and how it wasnt going to be a spiderman movie
-
Iron man was one of the most complained about parts of Spidermans marketing aside from spoilers in the trailers, people were calling it iron man 4 instead of a spiderman movie hilariously...

OK ... lets leave it at that, don't open a can of worms ...
I dont know if its opening a can of worms to point out that grown adults are sending racist messages and death threats to teenagers while then asking why comic book character appearances have to change. Think its just a point

Better imho.
They took Miles story and inserted Peter into it which is where a lot of the Hate comes from.
Hate for what having an asian friend?
Also the hate i've seen seems to be coming from the same people who when Zendaya was rumored for Mary Jane ran with "im not racist but an African American person having red hair isn't natural" while going to praise known natural red head Kirsten Dunst as their Mary Jane

The drops for this movie are simply hard to ignore is all I'm saying so that leads me to believe 1 of 2 things: Either the movie really wasn't THAT good as much as the reviews indicated and it's reflecting this in it's drops, OR, Everyone saw it OW and that's pretty much it and how the superhero blockbuster simply performs now in 2017 with all the demand being rushing out to see it OW??
Shouldn't a superhero movie in a franchise be compared to its characters last outing? Like no one compared GOTG2 to Civil War they compared it the first movie?
Plus the reviews coming in still keep the movie at 90+ and 7.6 on RT with 91% audience score and an A cinema score so WOM must at least still be good no or are their news ways to gage a movie WOM in its second week?
Also hate to try to seem smart but the performance of Apes and Spiderman do indicate they both hurt each other no?
Also on the Miles thing didnt they more or less set that up in Homecoming? So it will happen either way?

If I'm taking away the WW Number from SMH and going strictly by Domestic Numbers, then YES, It's disappointing.. No way to spin it.. It simply is and has nothing to do with drinking the Kool Aid.. SMH will be lucky to reach 300M Domestic and that's pushing it and YES, I get it, this is the 2nd reboot of the character but it still doesn't change the fact that the Domestic Number is underwhelming...
How is passing the last movies domestic total in 10 days disappointing ?

It's possible that too many fanboys jumped the gun on SMH word of mouth because there are 50 shades of "liking" a movie. There's a difference between liking a movie, loving a movie, really loving a movie, and loving it enough to buy tickets for your friends/family so that you can see it again along with them. That RT audience score of "91% liked it!" includes that entire spectrum, and we don't know the breakdown among the groups so to speak. It's very possible that the vast majority of those folks liked it or loved it, maybe even REALLY loved it... but not enough to buy tickets for their friends and family if it came down to it. Talk is cheap after all, and tickets these days are expensive!
Just as personal anecdote, I saw SMH and merely liked it. I recommended to friends and family to watch it if they have time/money or if they are big fans of Spidey/MCU. On the other hand, after I saw WW I bought 4 tickets for my whole family to watch it in Dolby ATMOS the very next day (and I went back solo a couple more times as well).
Who buys tickets to force someone to watch something?

Not turning this into Marvel vs. DC because I couldn't care less about that shit but let's look at what I'd call a similar comparison. Batman/Superman was a DC team up movie and it featured their two most popular along with a cameo from WW.
Spider-Man Homecoming features the two biggest Marvel characters plus a cameo from another popular character, won't spoil it of course.
Now to the numbers.
Batman/Superman did $320M+ and $873M WW.
Spider-Man Homecoming is on pace for about the same.
A lot of people called the first one "very disappointing"
What's fair is fair. I'm not saying either are disappointing, I'm saying it's a similar scenario, now lets see if it's treated as such.
Pretty sure the biggest complaint by fans was that they felt their was too much Iron Man in the trailers and posters etc and it didn't feel like a spider-man movie so was Iron Man a help or a hindrance in reality?
Also SMH is about to outgross ASM2 entire domestic gross in its second week, people need to calm it down a smidge
