  1. The ER is probably not going to get any better because of the political climate and uncertainty surrounding the election later this year. Recent polls, don't help since they show that it is basically an open race. External factors are also important especially for the most recent rapid rise which is mostly due to the dollar rise. However it will probably oscillate in this range for the rest of the year. Nada a Perder fraudulent run undermines Os Farofeiros good run. A shame Infinity Wars run will be exciting to see.
  2. However, unlike in 2014, 2015 and 2016 where the economy retracted. 2017 is going to show a increase. IMF and other experts (BC, FGV) estimate a economy gain of around 0.7% to possibly 1.1% it varies depending on the expert, official numbers will be released in early March. It not a fast process and it doesn't suddenly change from one moment to another but the economy has however crawled out recession which is a positive. Life for my family that lives in Brazil has not improved substantially just because of that its still quite hard especially money wise and security. But this sort of thing doesn't immediately effect the general public it takes time. The ER situation is related to the unsure situation around the pension reform voting.
  3. I know who you talking about and that's true. Jair Bolsonaro was rather high in the polls, bearing in mind that a decent percentage said in the polls that they will vote white(null) or don't know yet. As a result early polls like these aren't that valuable. Though the 2018 election will be unpredictable. There is also the Lula factor, but I believe Bolsonaro election campaign will fizz out and the winner will be someone else (Alckmin, Gomes?) I personally wouldn't want them either but Both Lula or Bolsonaro winning would probably effect the ER
  4. I am Brazilian but I don't reside in brazil currently. This election is definitely one of the most unpredictable due to the circumstances surrounding it. I have been following politics and I doubt a extremist will be elected.
  5. Fala Serio, Mae! is a film from 2017 but just with its numbers from 2018 it has already beaten all local films that were released in 2017. Brazil actually would seem to have crawled out of the recession in 2017. However. 2018 is a key year initially with some big issues being debated in congress then elections and the doubts surrounding that.
  6. I will predict the national films that might possibly perform to a reasonable level. Turma da Monica - Lacos (A Live action adaption from graphic novel with the same title, it is part of the Turma da Monica franchise) O Doutrinador - Live action adaptation of a national Comic book that has found a decent degree of popularity. Only these two for now for me. There are probably lot of others but my scope of knowledge is quite limited.
  7. Blame countries such as Italy, Germany and Brazil for being too good. These 3 countries alone have won more than half of all the world cup held. (13 out of 20) Worth noting that brazil is the only country to feature in all 20 world cup. Only South America and European countries have won a world cup. Seeing the Brazillian box office growing and records getting broken is good news especially when the country has just slowly crawled out of a recession.
  8. China has always performed reasonably well in the olympics since they started competing fully in 1984 (almost always in the top 5) so it wasn't such a big step forward for them to go toe to toe with the USA. Compared to football where China is about as weak as it comes it showed improvement in the 2000s. It actually managed to qualify for the World cup 2002 and in 2004 it reached the AFC Asians Cup finals but lost to Japan since then it hasn't done anything noteworthy. Xi Jinping is apparently a football enthusiast and they are supposedly investing in football (their league has gained more attention) but it chances of showing in 5 to 10 years are remote at best. Its goal should be to qualify to Qatar in 2022. (asian qualifiers are significantly easier than european ones) The ER is fluctuating over the pension reforms which the government is pushing to be voted on this year.
  9. its been quite a ride for Dahufa from a 20k kickstarter to help keep the project alive. To actually landing a theatre release.
