I really don’t think there’s any larger universe connection plans here considering that this whole trilogy is a creative collaboration between Tom Hardy and Kelly Marcel (and I don’t think Hardy is interested in this character beyond that).

Got reminded again when rewatching Anyone but You but Charlee Fraser looks almost exactly like Gal Gadot but is 100x better performer and should’ve had the career she had

I know the movie had to address why Furiosa is one arm in FR, but damn, the way the movie depicts still hurt and thrill.
Miller wasn’t trying to address any “criticisms” lol. It’s just a different kind of movie from Fury Road.

Becomes clear during the 2nd time how despite its much larger scope and complex story, the storytelling here is equally as economical and “Rube Goldberg machine”-esque as Fury Road. Miller’s ability to make even the littlest of gestures feel like they have a huge impact is amazing.

But Furiosa is definitely the center of the plot??? How she makes her way through these events much bigger than her and the lack of control over her life is pretty pivotal. I’d even say she is much more central than Max is any of the Mad Max movies except for the first one.

I was impressed by how much Anya sounds like Charlize Theron in this. Like although they look nothing alike, Anya does such a great job of capturing her mannerisms that I can totally see her grow up into Theron lol

I just thought it was funny how much Burke looked like Jimmy Stewart in that picture but his performance in this is the only one in a long time I've seen that feels just like a performance from a studio system era movie star. Like I totally see him starring in an Anthony Mann picture.

I think 50 mil-ish opening is pretty reasonable. Definitely feels like this has more interest than Ghostbusters Afterlife (someone else mentioned it)

Like with Donnie Darko, don’t really relate to this movies portrayal of American suburbia but did find this to be so much more horrifying and this might have my favorite title drop in a few years (partially biased because they used a cover of one of my favorite songs ever)

3D push in the two big AMCs in SF and Oakland, which I have never seen before except for Avatar 2. There’s like a million reald 3d showings. Dolby is completely 2d tho

I don’t even care much for Costners body of work as a director (Dances with Wolves is a bore and whatever bits of Waterworld I watched as a kid looked stupid) but I am rooting for it just because I’d like to see an old school western become a hit

Already at 319k likes on youtube. This is gonna be big. Would not be surprised if it ends up being the 2nd highest grossing movie (after Joker 2) of the latter half of the year.
