The problem with banking on Holiday legs to save Aquaman is the CBM climate is not the same as it was in 2018. Also, DCEU is a dead franchise and I’m not so sure people will show up just because it’s the Holidays.
i think 3x multi is where it’s heading, but 3.5x+ feels way too optimistic.
i should have the first update posted around 7pm EST
things to watch out for during my update (if its sold over 2k tickets that’s excellent, if its sold under 1k tickets 🚨🚨)
It's very hard for a film to miss a 3.5x multi at this time of year though. That being said I do agree that it's unlikely to natch the 5x multi that the first film had.

FNAF is just of these things you either saw coming or didn't. If you know a lot of gamers and gen zers then you knew it would be a hit. Otherwise this probably blindsided you.

More people would know Bad Romance, Just Dance, and Born This way than both of those songs
Selena is one of the luckiest artists ever. I have absolutely no idea how she got this far. IME she has always been just there. She has never dominated music ever while having big hits. She's not an artist that many people IME think of when they think of someone who makes bops. She has a nice and relatable personality but still. I think the reason why she is so popular is because of nostalgia. I grew watching her on tv and maybe her listeners did the same but kept following her afterwards
Um no I definitely don't agree that those songs are more known than Anti Hero and Cruel Summer at this rate. All are relatively equal outside of Born This WY which isn't even on the same league as the rest.
As for Selena, she has a huge follower count because she has a big career outside of music. She is an actress and has a very successful makeup line, also she is just a social media guru.

Gaga had Taylor’s cultural cache at her peak, and was a bigger, more global hit maker. Poker Face and Bad Romance might be bigger than any Taylor song. Even Shallow is bigger than any post-1989 song from TS.
I'm not sure about that. Anti Hero and Cruel Summer are huge

Bffr. The Beatles, Madonna, Britney Spears were much bigger. Even recently Rihanna and Adele have a much wider reach than taylor. They simply don't have as huge or dedicated fanbase as Swift. Especially Rihanna who is very dependent on the casual listeners compared to other listeners.
I personally believe there isn't any popstar in the last 15 years that peaked as high as Justin Bieber or even Lady Gaga. People often forget how easy it is now especially in western countries to ignore artists you don't care about. With the rise of streaming and the fall of radio if you didn't want to hear its easy that wasn't the case when radio dominated
Edit: Y'all are definitely affected by recency bias.
Taylor has already eclipsed Britney's, Rihanna's, and Adele's career in equivalent album sales.

Is there any song of her that is universally big outside her fans? Have seen many Justin Beiber and couple of Ed Sheeran songs that are quite widely famous in India, never really saw any her song play.
Love Story, Blank Space, Shake it Off, and Anti Hero

Imo i dont really think this is a dick move. It was low key expected. I also dont think its going to boost OW much.

Frontloaded here means first week sales
Offcourse she isn't Frontloaded in that manner but Swifties will always buy everything they can at that instance , we don't wait till last minute
But that's not true though. Her albums literally chart for weeks much more so than everyone else.

One thing is for sure...the forum would be dead without Marvel bickering, so careful what you wish for lol
I don't think it would. We have had an exciting year without Marvel and DC.

It's hard to compare FNAF to anything when it's only being booked on one screen at most theaters for that weekend so far. Only expectations one should have is for it to immediately fall off a cliff after the opening weekend, regardless the dollar amount.
I really don't see why that should be expected tbh. I think you guys are vastly overstating how frontloaded it will be.

FNAF feels like it’s shaping up to be the next Detective Pikachu. People are gonna start predicting 100-200M+ OW for it, sticking their heads in the sand and yell at everyone who’s not on board. And then freak out that the movie is a huge bomb when it “only” opens to 40M or so.
Difference is DP never actually had strong pre sales lmao. I don't think anyone is expecting a 100m+ opening. Rather just compete to potentially be the biggest horror of the year.

I personally think people here are overstating how frontloaded presales for FNAF will be.

Need Drake to announce his movie quick
Drake can't sell out stadiums. I can think of a few other artists that would get this type of concert film before him.

I think Eras will start to pick up. She is dominating headlines like crazy right now.

I think people are definitely underestimating walkups for Swift.

I don't think good reviews can bump opening weekend gross of a MCU movie by 25%. The OW of a MCU movie depends on hype. In the case of Ant-Man 3, hype was limited to fandom, so it had no chance of opening with $140m
It literally had previews that should have gotten it to 140m OW. It collapsed during opening week because of poor reception

Easy.
Look up how many albums Thriller sold. When people actually had to go out and spend money on ONE album and leave the house.
There was a mania around Jackson that I and others on here actually lived through, and trust me….Swift isn’t close. Nobody has been. It’ll never happen again.
It's not a fair comparison because people consume albums differently. Comparing physical album sales is a very flawed comparison, you have to look at things like equivalent album sales which take streaming into account. Taylor hasn't reached the level of MJ at his peak and never will but I'm certain she will have more longevity and have a real shot at matching his career when it's all said and done.

Assuming comps are unreliable, wouldn't the best way to predict Era's OW be to speculate on the final % of available seats sold? If MTC1 is already at 60+% at t-40, hard for me to see how it sells less than 50% nationwide on Fri. And if @Relevation's math is correct, that would put the floor for Friday at 45m...
This. I'm confused why people are throwing around 30m when that's already where it's at with T-0 comps. This has been very confusing to follow

Seems like it's going pretty well for an indie film but still no breakout overseas like it had in America.

You all are overestimating a lot imo
This will be very frontloaded. Taylor fans have a habit maximizing the first day
Is there anything actually indicating this? Her albums have been charting for years.

Wish had so much potential. I cant believe they blew it like this. This is the most frustrating Disney performance of the year imo.
