Shanks if it's possible can you keep going with KSA Update every week. Currently, it's the most important Wkend Update in entire BOT. And for me, extremely essential from this WKend! (╯︵╰,)

Hmm, doing it for few weeks is no problem. I will post 'em as soon as I get 'em.

CS says Mario is now Top Universal Release in Colombia. Really did they defeated in Admits or Gross? I am confused 😕

It's Gross ofcourse. The ATP in Colombia is way higher now. Avatar 2 for same reason became highest Grossing movie too.

  10. InsideKino & JP use CBO-Boxoffice as source, generally. so, Most people have those numbers.

Now it remains to be seen which between 20.634M and 20.758M is real

    1 hour ago, LPLC said:

But suddenly I don't understand where this figure of 20,758,841 comes from ? They made up 124k admits

20,758,841 was only released by Studio few years down the line when the French local Bienvenue chez les Ch'tis came too close to it's own Admissions. We have no idea how many releases it included. Some say it's 1st run but that's not what PATHE film had said when it released Ch'tis's data of along with figure of titanic.

So, Both numbers are real. Anyway, CBO/CNC are close to each other with less than 0.1% error of margin in almost 1000s of movies.

    1 hour ago, LPLC said:

Conclusion : I think as you said we should take the distributor's figure, i.e. the most complete figure for its 1st release,

1st, Distributor's numbers are very hard to find - we know very few of 'em. Also, Distributor's numbers are tricky, we have no idea which territories they have included. By territories I mean there are almost 20+  Old Colony Islands that sometimes get included in the total of France & sometimes don't.

So, Which numbers to take? CBO's or CNCs' because you want numbers to compare to other releases, so you need consistent coverage area. Also, CBO is the one - whose numbers we get every weekend. So, atleast here, CBO's numbers should be taken.

If we add its release in 2012, its small release in 2020 during the covid and its release this year, this gives us a total of : 20,758,841 + 1,139,388 + 20,878 + 388,909 = 22,308,016 admits.

Why would you mix together two different Data sets? One Data set is from Authority called Fédération Nationale des Cinémas Français and 2nd Data set -  which you just cited is from Distributors. You can't take highest Data points from different data sets and inflate the Admissions.

Let me give you 3 Data sets by different Authorities and maybe you will understand:

CNC Dataset: (Centre national du cinéma et de l'image animée)

    1998/1999 : 20,614,443 (95%)
    2000-2009 : 4,577
    2010-2018 : 1,145,204 (rep. 3D en 2012, Reprise 3D en 2012 : 1,138,207)

    TOTAL:   21,798,906

2nd Dataset: Used by JP & others

    1998-99:  20,634,793

    2012, 3D: 1,139,388

    3rd Dataset: Distributor

    1st Run - 20,758,841

    2012, 3D Run - 1,132,734

    2020 - NA

Now, Reason I go with 20,634,793 is because that's source -  which is used by you & others to provide data every week for different films. That's also source used by JP & widely accepted by most sites. Oh, You gave me example of ALLOCINE - Checkout Allocines's top 50 movie:

    image.png

To not create discrepancies, we should simply use 2nd one. Because You can't take distributor figure of one film and then compare it to other movies figure which were given by different box-office Authority.

Ofcourse, if someday you can get Distributor figure for all the films, then you can use that Titanic number.
