If someone reads “best comic book movie ever”, written by someone else and then assumes that they will also think it’s the best comic book movie ever and ends up disappointed… that’s on them.
People need to start making up their own minds lol
True but that's what the marketing for this has been since start of the year. Looks like WB learnt nothing from the MoS/BvS-SS 2016 era that it can backfire easily too. -
Damn, those few people who gave mixed/negative reactions are getting attacked as usual. Fans really believed the best CBM ever hype train it seems.

Best clip yet and it's not even on the official channel. MCU marketing lately is funny! 😂- 2

"Those people" are not even the target audience. The first movie despite all the hate in the world made over a billion. I know, I know this one won't make that much. But the standard MCU sequel drop lately would have it around $600M-$700M, which is nothing to scoff at in the current CBM scenario.

I do not understand the decision to make Kraven an anti-poaching antihero. Making him a guy who kills big game hunters is quite a deviation from his comic version...the world's greatest game hunter.
It's Sony, they never cared about comic book accuracy lol. -

Rather this do eh numbers but gets good reception rather than pull a DS2 or L&T
Yep, they need a well received movie with good legs more than ever now than another DS2 type box office performance with great opening but meh legs. -
China will have to carry this again, the pre-sales elsewhere don't look that good.

It's funny when back then people complained Thanos wasn't built much until IW apart from post credits scenes.

This will easily have great legs throughout July and August. Re-watched KoTCS last weekend and it wasn't even that bad! Although, I feel some elements from that movie will also be here.

I don't see it being 90+ RT movie with current trends. Maybe around 85% like Vol.2. Domestic legs at least should be good.

From my experience, a lot of the Film Twitter types who go on about how much Marvel movies suck seem to make an exception when it comes to James Gunn. I guess they believe his films have more heart to them.
That’s not to say that Gunn doesn’t have vocal detractors on Twitter, but they tend to be the Snyderverse people who are mad about Henry Cavill.
Funny because the Pac-Man scene from Vol.2 and the dance-off from the first were hated on back when they released. -

A trailer like this is in my opinion what´s lacking from the Vol 3 marketing. This shit made me pumped to watch Vol 2. Hope they release a TV spot that has something like this.
And spots like this-

They shouldn't be... People might just be a bit burned and letdown by MCU. I think Ant-man was a big blow. Wakanda Forever had restored some faith then that happened. There's absolutely no reason to be worried about Gunn. Unless you mean just worried about the state of superheroes movies maybe still making nice money but nothing close to what they were making in the boom there? It's possible that will be a thing... Even the next Batman and Spider-man movies could run into that and those two are biggest superheroes in movies pretty comfortably.
I think his Superman will be pretty refreshing and probably break out more than any of the Superman movies that have come out since, well, the original two long, long ago.
If you actually get Superman right and it's fun, it can be pretty huge. Not Batman and Spider-man huge but very, very big. I think he can capture the sense of fun. Whatever that latest Superman was and even the Singer one... Neither really captured a sense of fun... Neither really even tried to... They were busy doing other things and living in the heavy messianic junk that's kind of boring and even antiquated really.
Until he starts to really trip up, I have faith in Gunn. His track record in superhero stuff since Vol. 1 is pretty impressive.
I mean Shazam 2 bombed out of the gate, Ant-Man 3 failed to match the first movie's gross. If a well received GoTG Vol.3 under performs that's a bad sign for both studios. Superman Legacy would be lucky to match MoS numbers and that was coming right after peak DC era of TDK, while Avengers/Iron Man 3 were breaking box office records in that year span.- 1

WB would be really worried if this under performs massively. It's funny how a lot is riding on this movie at the moment!

GoTG Vol.2 and TSS follow the same structure. I wonder if Vol.3 does too! 🤔
-
Doubt that is the case, at worst it's a 75-85% RT movie. Even Vol.2 which released in peak CBM era has 85% RT.

The lead up to the first movie feels very much like Vol.3 now. There was more hype for TMNT until the WoM and reviews for GoTG carried it.
