Considering all the production problems going on right now , this is easy to deduce.
DS2 has some problems and it's pretty well known even outside of Grace as source
Thor 4 could go either way
BP2 has to overcome literally many problems and hurdles
The Marvels won't have Avengers cushion+ Ms. Marvel changes are going to cause many controversy
people don't comment but "DS2" is undergoing reshots, and "Spider NWH" has had some reshots as well.

funny in February on Reddit there was the plot leak and it was worrying. Weird they didn't try to "fix" it.
imagine the controversy it would be if the film were to be shredded

Captain Marvel is currently the most fundamentally different of the Marvel films IMO.
- The structure of the movie consists almost entirely of a bunch of duologues.
- The amnesia plot line means our relationship to the protagonist is totally different from any other movie.
- The resolution is the protagonist choosing *not* to have a big showdown with the villain.
- The film is existential in nature and deals with matters of self-actualisation and who a person is, in contrast with the rest of the canon that is largely classical storytelling with mild social commentary.
The accusations of blandness from film commentariats really aren't in tune with the general audience. My dad's a 70+ year old conservative who likes westerns and thrillers. Captain Marvel is by far his favourite MCU movie.
I don't think we can tell much about how Eternals will be received yet by general audiences. There's a huge irony between the histrionics of the responses to the critical scores, compared to the fact that the critics themselves are pretty unanimous that the film is mostly mediocre and non-committal.
Almost everything about the way things are setup give indications that slant young and Very Online. That's not the whole of the MCU's audience. I suspect older audiences, more female audiences and non-movie regular audiences will all have their own takes on this one - they might all shake out different, they might not - but I'm not trusting the *online movie discourse* on this one just yet.
Captain Marvel is horrible, Eternals shouldn't be as bad as

I feel like this year the movies are struggling to see which one fails the least, except 'F9', all of which have failed so far

No numbers so far suggest that and neither does audience reception.
I read some articles that say the movie failed at the box office because of the delta variant and simultaneous release on HBO Max, and not because of a lack of public interest

Well, the subpar box office combined with the subpar streaming numbers would seem to indicate that's not a total sure thing. For the GA, it's not been evenly received by age or gender outside of the uber-fan base. Even Deadline mentioned that OW, and it's uneven reception is not improving as more non-uber-fans saw this...
It would have better numbers...would it have gotten to "commercial success" with its budget? There's a lot more doubt here...
I read some articles in The Hollywood Reporter blaming the pandemic for the failure of "TSS" at the box office, not the lack of public interest in DC's ips
"Gunn’s critically acclaimed movie opens amid consumer concern over the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic and delta variant, which has stalled the box office recovery. A home release on HBO Max also complicates matters"
"Nevertheless, and despite positive reactions, hopes were higher for The Suicide Squad and there are several factors contributing to the lackluster start.Closures in Australia and Mexico and the introduction of the health pass requirement in Italy this weekend impacted the debut. The latter market was down overall by an estimated 70%. In France, there is still confusion over (and contempt for) the health pass while competition from local titles was felt there as well as in Germany and Korea"
the week the movie was released:
https://twitter.com/MiguelNicolelis/status/1424933360682643470?s=19
and yet there is a consensus that the film is a success for the DC brand
"Even after the pandemic saddled opening weekend box office results for The Suicide Squad, the film was a clear win for the brand, opening the door for new characters, concepts, and stories"

Joker made a billion just before the pandemic. I don't think there's a problem with the brand, it's just that WB isn't making the movies fans want to see.
DC doesn't have a strong fan base to support a movie box office during a pandemic, Marvel fans will watch their movies in any possible setting.
The last three DC films were released in a pandemic setting, and it's too surreal to assume that "TSS' and "WW84" wouldn't be big box office hits in a non-pandemic setting. And even Marvel with a large fan base couldn't avoid the failure of "BW".

I can't help but feel like The Suicide Squad would have been far better of as an HBO Max original. Virus or no virus, it was never going to even come close to profitability in theaters. The stench of the first movie is still strong. Birds of Prey was just a preview in hindsight.
If it was a Max original, at least WB wouldn't have to deal with all the headlines about how poorly the movie is doing in theaters and how it has the biggest second weekend drop in the entire franchise. It would have found an audience there at least.
in a normal scenario before the pandemic, "TSS" would have been a commercial success, there is no reason to assume otherwise.

The only business important to them at the moment:

Not really. They haven't released anything concrete about any of their D+ shows. Just vague platitudes and some relative comparisons.
Like, take this comment about The Falcon and the Winter Soldier:
I cut off stuff from third party trackers, as it's fairly irrelevant. Disney itself hasn't released a damn thing except total subscribers.
I personally don't like it one bit, but it doesn't say much about the success, or lack thereof, of Cruella.

Rotten Tomatoes is overrated in pop culture, this is due to the Marvel and DC fan war that started in 2016 with "Civil War vs. BvS", Some people use Rotten as an argument to validate their point of view.
