Monica is like Winter Soldier or Falcon in a Captain america film. Or like War Machine in the Iron Man films. More like an organic partner for the franchise ( and possible eventual succesor) instead of a team-up. The only difference is that she obtain the powers in the wanda series. Like if rhodey get the armor at the end of Incredible Hulk instead of directly in Iron Man 2. Kamala yes is another completely different thing because all about her was presented in the Ms Marvel series

btw in an interview from early this year Feige said that he thinks Monica and Kamala are characters very well liked by the general public. Clearly he make a very big mistake on what the public that don't read comics think about Monica after Wandavision ( i think would have been better if the Monica of the illuminati universe was Captain Marvel there instead of her mom Maria)

Monica was a Captain Marvel in the comics and was a secondary character in the first Captain Marvel movie. It makes a lot of sense having her as co-protagonist of a Captain Marvel sequel. Like having both T challa and Shuri as Black Panther in a Black Panther sequel. Kamala is in this case the sidekick/team up

yeah the trades have said nothing yet about the series being scrapped. A writer of a MCU info book said but that could just mean they are writing in again like daredevil born again. Until the trades said something is not cancelled

They release 5 shows in 2021 and 3 in 2022. There wasn't a problem of " too much shows" in 2022. The problem was more realising ms marvel at the same time than kenobi. That affect more the "specialness" because the ms marvel premier wasn't "special" at all because was overshadow by a show like kenobi. Also Moon Knight and Hawkeye were always planned as movies, not shows. They changed to shows only to released more quickly and not wait. That could be the mistake. Loki, Wandavision, Ms Marvel, She Hulk were always planned as shows.

So a change like this was needed. Let's see how it goes with general audience. From what i read from the avant premier in my country, it could go well with the general audience
