The numbers for The Fall Guy and Tarot aren't good. Tarot is the usual Screen Gems joint ( meaning it was crappy, but wasn't that expensive ), so it might recoup some money in the long haul. Is there any good Screen Gems horror flick? The Unholy got a C+ CinemaScore and The Grudge ( 2020 ) got an F CinemaScore. So, Tarot getting a C- was predictable

    Don't Breathe?
    Evil Dead 2013?

That's pretty much it, I think.

I don't understand the weird hostility some have towards the Fall Guy around here.

It's unwatchably bad. David Leitch is a hack. All his movies are bad and underperform yet he still gets $130M to make more (and that's the reported budget, we know how studios love to deflate budgets to the press)

I mean, it's still looking to be the higher-end of recent re-releases. Unless I'm missing something, it's only behind Avatar. That seems fine if you ask me.

Not to mention, it's pretty great for what is not a very well-liked movie. Most re-releases are for beloved classics.

Wait a rerelease is going to do almost $10m? What the fuck? Did we expect this? I feel like all rereleases lately have made like a few hundred thousand. But I guess this is Star Wars we’re talking about.

I know it was over a decade ago but The Lion King re-release doesn't get enough credit.

    This is wild:

    Weekend 1: $30,151,614 / $12,940 PTA

    Weekend 2: $21,929,332 / $9,411 PTA

I don't think this flop is about Gosling/Blunt not being draws. This movie always reminded me of Knight and Day with Cruise. That one flopped with 20M OW and it was the same concept action/comedy/romance. Men were not here for the romance part and women don't generally care for action

Cruise hasn't been a draw outside of MI and TG in ages and he knows it. The Mummy, Valkarie, Knight & Day, Jack Reacher, American Made, Oblivion, even the great Edge of Tomorrow...none of them set the b.o. on fire.

Twister is the one that really started the "summer movie season begins in early May" trend in 1996. Before that it was typically Memorial Day weekend that was used as the big launchpad.

Yeah idk where ppl are getting Mummy from. Even Deep Impact did early May before Mummy. As much as I'd like to give Mummy the credit (it's better than Twister), it didnt start it.

Just rewatched Speed for it's 30th anniversary. It holds up amazingly well, the bus sequence is still A++++ and the train one has a great ending button of a line, but we always forget the elevator sequence which has a great build of suspense and would be a classic sequence on it's own before the rest of the movie completely overshadows it.

The funniest shot in the movie is definitely the insert shot of the airline towing guy running away from the explosion to assure the audience that no one died.

With the right marketing campaign and the killer hook again, feel like Speed could still do great at the box office now.

I watched it on the big screen last week. So cool seeing an action movie where everything is done in camera, and where the stars have real chemistry, even if Keanu can't act. Great theatrical experience.

Are you using the DEADPOOL movies as your reference? People saw that because of the character and not because of the actor. Reynolds' biggest movie outside of CBMs and animated movies is THE PROPOSAL with 317.4M worldwide. Gosling on the other hand has LA LA LAND with 472.0M. I also think people watched BARBIE because of his great portrayal of Ken and not necessarily because Ken is a known character.

Yeah, people forget Reynolds was pretty much flopping for a decade until Proposal saved him (carried by Bullock), and then came Deadpool (carried by the character).
