  1. Yes, I agree with you that everything fit perfectly into place for TGM, from critics reviews to audience word of mouth, but outside of CBMs, we haven’t had anything breakout remotely in the same league as TGM based sorely on excellent reviews and word of mouth in the last few years. Also, unlike the MI franchise which is currently at the height of its popularity, TGM had to build its audience from the ground up. TGM’s success has also resulted in some Tom Cruise movies to trend on streaming platforms. So, Dead Reckoning already has the goodwill of Fallout, the inbuilt audience of the MI franchise and the popularity of TGM to build on. If it’s as good as either Fallout or TGM, it will generate intrigue amongst both fans and people who were previously indifferent to Tom Cruise but were impressed by TGM.
  2. Well Cruise and Mcquarrie never had as big a hit as Fallout at one point. Pretty sure they would have never had as big a hit as Dead Reckoning when that releases. It took some time but with TGM & Fallout, people are now well aware of the difference between a Cruise production and other stuff you see on screen, which is why the gap between TGM & other films released this summer is widening both domestically and internationally. The gap will widen further when Dead Reckoning releases. Also, Kosinski is pretty great but without Cruise’s involvement & insistence on shooting practical aerial stunts and Mcquarrie’s involvement with the story, screenplay and rewrites(which according to rumours, delayed the release from 2019 to 2020), I don’t think the RT & Audience score would’ve been remotely close.
  3. Scott’s lost the plot these days. From predicting a $125m domestic finish just a couple of weeks back to ending his most recent post saying that this movie’s box office will not make Cruise an A+ box office star again. If Cruise, with a $100m domestic start for his 2nd franchise, at a time when even the biggest non-CBM or Jurassic World movies are opening at best to $70m odd, then Idk who is!
  4. Isn’t the Doctor Strange gross for the first entire day of release because the report is on the 25th and the movie released on the 24th there and Top Gun Maverick’s total is just till 2pm?
