6 more days until Top Gun 2 beats No Way Home and Endgame. :insane:

Watching the Early Access screening on Tuesday for the swag and NFT’s, then the free AMC Investor showing on Wednesday.  Then I have Dolby seats for Thursday night and Friday tickets to watch with my office.

4 days in a row of Tom!

  2. Tried watching this again last night and barely got through the first 20 minutes before I walked out and caught the last half of Knives Out.  As much as I liked Phoenix’s performance in this movie, I think seeing it once was good enough. It was just boring to watch a 2nd time.

I'm confused by you guys saying you could see the ending coming a mile away.  Like you knew it was actually a real suicide and Marta didn't give him the wrong medicine because Ransom swapped the fluid in the bottles but then Marta swapped bottles and Ransom's real crime was killing the house keeper?  You saw that coming a mile away?

I’ve watched enough Scooby Doo episodes to know exactly what was going to happen at the end!

I know lately my early numbers in Summer and now Frozen 2 aren't as good as they were pre Aladdin, but gonna take a shot on it.

Going by Wednesday pre-sales, expecting 23-25 today. Please note these are projections from pre-sales, not during the day.

    Just for perspective of this speculation;

PS are more than 2x Ralph 2 OD

Around +7% Tuesday in USA, Canada is down obviously.

Haven’t been much lately, but how have AMC A-list and it’s Regal counterpart effected your projections?  More reservations (presales) and less walk up screwing with your projections?

But Cliff Curtis can do anything

Which is what threw me off about his character.

I always thought Curtis was Indian from The Last Airbender and was wondering the whole time why they couldn’t cast someone else, until I looked it up and realized he was from NZ!

So, since it's a "don't take it seriously" movie opening weekend with H&S, I decided to let my boys pick any movie they wanted that we would watch together tonight...

And wouldn't you know - I lobbied for Gremlins, but that would be "too scary". so my boys did the 100% appropriate thing and picked an "August dump" movie back from 1989 with major stars like Howie Mandel, Fred Savage, Ben Savage, and Daniel Stern...and it was a movie I LITERALLY had never heard of, let alone ever seen in the theater...

See, I should see who is a google fiend or who actually was one of the under 100K people who actually saw this 1st run in theater on that lowly Aug 25-27 weekend back in 1989...or who has made it their mission to watch every old movie released onto Netflix.

Anyway...now, that you had a chance to look:)...it was Little Monsters...and it was bizarre...but not bad...I mean, not good, either, but that creative and crazy (Howie had to have been on something for some of his scenes) that really appeals to kids.  My boys liked it, with one even saying he thinks that this movie inspired Monsters, Inc.  And you know, there are some pretty on point elements...not saying Pixar made a copy, but boy, if I'd have seen this movie 1st, I'd have recognized a lot of tropes Pixar used in their Monster movies:).

But, all in all, a worthwhile night to celebrate the "dumps of August."  I may have to do this again next weekend, b/c my boys can seem to find these movies that I never knew ever saw the light of day:)...

I haven’t heard anyone mention that movie in years! I was 9 years old at the time that’s movie came out.  I begged my dad to rent it when the video store finally got it in and ended up being too scared to watch it by myself.

I see JW has been linked already. Here’s all the numbers threads sorted by length, in case you were curious about any others:

Adjusted for inflation, that TDKR thread would probably have done 500 pages easy. ;)

Homecoming made 154 mill after 6 days.  Pretty sure this is going to be ahead of that.  No reason to think it won't get over 300 mill and come close to or exceed a billion.  Not every MCU film has to shatter the gross of the last film.  I think some of you have gotten greedy and expect too much now.  The MCU universe is the only universe that seems to be making bank with every film they release.  The panic and misinformed vitriol here is really strange.

Just doing a quick check in the Summer game and the average prediction for FFH on the first page of predictions is about 340 million.  That looks to be a good number to shoot for.  So it's kind of doing what people thought it would...to quote Dennis Green...." FFH is who we thought it was!"

Not sure what you guys were expecting but I think a lot of you went cockoo for cocoa puffs when Charlie said it would do 50 million at 7AM PST of OD.

I love your old man wisdom.

    Yes.

    No.

I’m literally the guy who made the AEG over Avatar club, before most people thought it was possible, and you people have still, somehow, managed to make me sick of this incessant EG vs Avatar crap that’s been all over the place for weeks with exaggeration, hyperbole, needless insults and baiting, and freak outs from all sides. I think it’s time to finally add some people who are nominally on my “side” to my ignore list for sanity.

Definitely ignored john2000, and life on these threads have been far better since. Incessant EG replies with no real added value was draining to read.
