The characters were the least interesting aspect of that movie and its connection to the Death Star, Vader and immediate release after TFA is what sold it, not "the unique characters".

Don't get me wrong, I think they SHOULD move away from the same ol' same ol', but Rogue One was not it.

Rogue One will probably be my favorite from this new batch of SW movies because of the characters. Go figure.

The MCU also has 22 movies in 10 years and started as an independent studio. Disney attempted to pull off something way more conservative with Star Wars and failed spectacularly.

Only movie that really failed was Solo. Wouldn’t say Disney “failed spectacularly”. It just happened one movie grossed 900m and every other SW movie will now be judged against it.

Could it possibly jump from Monday? We all know Tuesdays decrease from Monday after big opening weekends, even with the continued rise of cheap Tuesdays.

Keep in mind my target for Monday is $35M.

I said earlier 33m Monday and 45m Tuesday.

The movies through TFA were matching the admissions of the previous record holder w/ inflation (and 3D w/ Potter) included.

This is the first one to CLEARLY crush the admissions record

Revenge of the Sith would have.  Remember it opened on a Thursday.  It probably had potential for $60+m on a true Friday, which would have lasted until TDK

only 60m in previews? Did not beat TFA by much, not at all with inflation. The final potter film still has the most impressive opening night numbers.

I'll agree, at the time DH II's preview numbers were crazy.  But if you break it down, you'll see that with it's midnight start time, theaters were able to allocate as many screens as they needed to to accommodate moviegoers.  My theaters in the DC/Maryland/VA area had showings from 12am to 6am.  Roughly the same time Endgame and TFA had with 6pm - 12am showings.  And the theaters for TFA and EG still had to show other movies in that same time frame.

  6. Here in San Diego, caught the 5pm Fan Event which I love going to because it has the old feel of midnight previews and then caught a 10:30pm IMAX showing.  Let’s just say I’m tired AF!

As I was leaving, people were still queued up for the 2:30am showings which were around 80% full. Totally loved the chaos last night.

Who else is practicing to hold their bladder?

I watched Return of the King 6 times in the theater and made it through safely.  Then again, that was 16 years ago when my bladder could hold a 12 pack of beer and not even flinch.

3 days and 3 sub 20% week-to-week decreases...ah, what could have been (and yes, this baby run fascinates me:)...almost could have been a baby Peter Rabbit from last year, although I guess if Dumbo comes in lower than expectations, maybe it still could be...

I believe it’s just a lack of kid friendly options during spring break.

What I remember from last night was

    Hobbs and Shaw

    Spider Man

    Dark Phoenix new trailer

    Dumbo

    The Lion King

    Shazam new trailer

    Avengers Endgame

If there were any other trailers they werent memorable.

I was at the 6pm Fan Event and the only trailers we got were Dumbo and Frozen 2.
