  1. None of them would be a factor I guess. Peanuts, Pokemon, Little Prince, Hotel Transylvania will fight for children's market. Not enough to shake whole industry. Their pre-sale percentage is not huge eighter. (TFA currently has 36.7% of pre-sale percentage, while Hotel Transylvania is 8.6% for 3rd position) TFA and Himalays likely to lead two-top position for next christmas week. And in New Year's eve "The Magician" will join the race, but it is not a guaranteed hit.
  2. TFA's sunday gross is 2.627m (KRW 3,109,806,900) That makes 4-day total gross including wednesday preview to 7.912m (KRW 9,368,527,553) It exceeds expectation, especially 3D and IMAX boost gross toward weekend so much. 3M +@ admission and total gross of around 25m is not out of the park. WOM is not great, not toxic either. And lack of new competition is beneficial to TFA toward Christmas.
  3. Sunday 1. Himalaya 441,844 / 1,528,035 2. TFA 360,027 / 1,070,179 3. The Tiger 180,461 / 737,317
  4. TFA's saturday gross is 2.755m USD (3,261,643,891 KRW, 1184 KRW = 1USD) 3-day gross is about 5.25m Getting closer to USD 7m+ @ for 4-day debut. For Christmas week, there are no new competition. And 'The Tiger' gets weaker and weaker everyday. So 'The Himalayas' and TFA will have stellar cruise toward new year's day week.
  5. China and Japan will undoubtedly huge, and SK has grown much bigger than prequel era. Disney has put so much effort on TFA and the gross would have been bigger had it released in summertime.
  6. Friday's gross is about 1.275m so that makes 2.5m for 2-day total. Still think it can go more than 7m 4-day.
  7. Further detail, first day of TFA gross is about 1.225m USD. (1,451,705,000 KRW, 1USD = 1184 KRW as of today) Thanksfully, value of USD is on rise now, thanks to recent fiscal decisions. Also as of gross, TFA is no.1 film on Thursday. From my speculation, TFA is about doing 1m admission for 4-day first week, about 7.3-7.4m USD gross.
  8. Yes, big local movie called The Thieves coming next week. It features domestic all star cast and is from big distributor.This movie was anticipated to block TDKR go further from the first time. From reviews, seems like decent, crowd pleaser movie.This title is also anticipated to bring about 6 or 7 million admission or more.
  9. Long time, back from vacation. TDKR opened with huge number, around 440k admission and 2.76m USD. So we can say, it is heading for around 1.8-1.9m admission and 11m USD. (4-day gross) I see it can finish around $45m gross. For other movies, TASM is having its late runs, currently total is around 4.59m admission and 34.4m USD. Should finish just below 40m USD, where many users including me predicted. Not many things to say, but Midnight In Paris is becoming sleeper hit. It should be interesting where it will finish.
  10. Same with US. Indeed one day earlier than US. (Thursday release)
  11. Long Time, I come back with last week's boxoffice stuff.Deranged, local horror movie opened with surprisingly high number and arrived at No.1 spot.It did came out of nowhere, so it might hurt TASM more than expected.Weekend Score : 1.33m admission / 8.41m USD grossTASM had its fine second week - for 3-day weekend it had 1.06m admission / 7.87m USD grossThe total is now at 25.75m USD / 3.36m admissionObviously the leg is not at the level of Transformer 1, but it is better than decent.So 5 million admission and 38m USD finish is looking good.For other foreign moviesMadagascar 3 held well, weekend gross is 513k and total is now at 10.5m USD.(1.55m admission)The Raven was meh... debut in 5th position. 4-day gross is 574kMeanwhile, Midnight In Paris is biggest Woody Allen opener in SK. Opened with 530k USD and 80k admission.Haywire - not much to say. 214k grossCabin in the Woods dropped almost 80 percent. Total is now at 1.40m USD and will leave theater this week.We have many many small films opening this week, none of them seems to impact the charts.Maybe one or two domestic movies, well.From foreign movies, Limitless (finally!) is the biggest of them all.
  12. Early weekend estimates are here! (Wait for the actual until tomorrow)TASM : 4 day admission : 1.70m / USD Gross : 13.26m40m+ above finish is near. Competition is empty until TDKR to come (with minor domestic threats)For other releasesCabin in the Woods : 131k admission / $0.87mTotalsMadagascar 3 : 1.44m admission / $9.80mLockout : 457k admission / $2.91mWait for full actual chart tomorrow!
  13. A little better increase for ASM's saturday than anticipated, so may reach more than 1.7m admission and closer to 14m USD opening week gross
  14. 2D Tickets are usually 8000 won (with a child discount) about 7 dollar for today's currency3D Tickets are usually 13000 won, about 11.3 dollarIMAX 3D Tickets are usually 16000 won, about 14 dollarAnd there are various ways of discount, so that should be considered
  15. For Thursday (opener) and Friday Record, some comparisons- Amazing Spiderman 0.561m admission- The Avengers 0.486m admission- Iron Man 2 0.539m admissionFor late June (end of semester weekend) 2-day record, some comparisons- ASM 0.561M- TF3 0.986M (wednesday opener) - TF2 0.855M (wed opener)- Knight & Day 0.232M- Wanted 0.415M- TF1 0.612M- Superman Returns 0.211M (wed opener)TF1 opened with a weekend record of 1.90m admission with 0.31m OD admission Avengers opened with 1.64m admission with 0.29m OD record (incl 0.08m midnight record)So expect kinda 1.60m admission for ASM's opening weekend. (4 day)USD gross will be similar to that of Avengers. (12.75m OW)Legs are hard to predict, while the level isn't higher as TA or TF1but competition is very week. Not much release for 3 weeks until TDKR to come(and vacation isn't started yet)For now, I expect about 5M admission (about 38M USD) finish.
  16. Not much, Avatar's record will be there I think at least more than 5 years (until its sequel to break it )
  17. Some notable foreign movies of 2012 BO record (-6/29, for a first half of 2012)It was pretty good half for SK domestic movies, not very good for foreigners (Only 6 movies in Top 20, including MI4)- The Avengers 51.85M (USD) / 7.09M (admission)- MIB3 23.77M / 3.37M -> Likely to end around 25m usd- Puss In Boots 15.22M / 2.06M- Battleship 14.40M / 2.24M- Madagascar 3 9.09M / 1.33M -> Likely to end around 12m- Journey 2 8.45M / 1.14M- Prometheus 7.44M / 0.96M- Wrath of the titan 6.61M / 0.89M- John Carter 6.28M / 0.83M- This Means War 5.77M / 0.87M- Snow White and the Huntsmen 4.04M / 0.64M- Hunger Game 3.90M / 0.61M- Titanic 3D 3.90M / 0.37M- Man on a Ledge 3.80M / 0.59M- Dark Shadows 3.77M / 0.58M- Mirror, Mirror 3.57M / 0.58M- The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo 3.04M / 0.44M- Lockout 2.88M / 0.45M- Chronicle 2.52M / 0.38M And finally some genre specific stats: Highest attended movies by genre Romance/Melodrama Action/Adventure Comic Book Movies Historical Drama Science Fiction Thriller/Crime War Drama Fantasy Animated films Drama Comedy Horror
