Skyfall
11/1/12, 8:20 PM
Sold out in a 353 seater
Trailer:
Hotel Transylvania
Movie:
Movie is way too serious. It works great as a good action movie with several good performances including Craig. But it does not work that well as a Bond movie. The last half hour is good and the references to bond of old days towards the end is nice.
Will watch again to see if iI like the movie more now that I know the movie's deficiencies as a bond movie.

Looks like Skyfall made about $1.5 M on its first day in India.Has Excellent First Day
Friday 2nd November 2012 14.30 IST
Boxofficeindia.Com Trade Network
Skyfall had an excellent first day of around 5.75 crore nett as the film scored big in South India helped by the fact it was a holiday in some parts. Mysore, Nizam/Andhra and Tamil Nadu/Kerala had collections which were out of this world. Mysore and Tamil Nadu/Kerala both crossed 1 crore nett business on day one.
While the collections in the South were record breaking for a Hollywood release in the Hindi belt was much lower. The approx breakdown for Skyfall in all languages is as follows.
Mumbai - 1.50 crore
Delhi/UP - 55 lakhs
East Punjab - 18 lakhs
East India - 30 lakhs
(West Bengal, Bihar, Assam, Orissa)
Central India - 40 lakhs
(CP Berar, CI, Rajasthan)
South India 2.75-3 crore
(Nizam/Andhra, Mysore, TNK)

The movie succeeds in some ways but falls short in delivering satisfying action scenes that I have have come to enjoy in bond movies. Daniel Craig is admirable. The pacing of the movie is slow till the the last third of the movie.
My biggest misgiving is that it does not feel like a Bond movie.

Based on its first weekend, I would say $550M + seems like a good bet.

Fantastic performance by Skyfall.
-
One of the best movies ever. Great story, supplemented with fantastic performances by Ford and Jones.

I'm happy that Exp2 will gross over $300M WW. It made up for the loss in the domestic gross (compared to the first one) with a superb overseas gross.

I agree with you. South Indian movies are better at coming up with original ideas. I despise Bollywood for the most part. It is filled with talentless hacks but for a few people.Well firstly, it would help if they actually got entries from a wide range of languages. And there were actually better films in the list. FFI has an obsession with Bollywood. And some parts are completely ripped from silent films in Barfi. Inspiration is fine, lifting is not. Besides this is the same FFI that nominated "Jeans" (a commercial Tamil film) for the Oscars. If you look at the 3 Indian films which were shortlisted before, they all had something unique.
-
+1It must be doing very well in Oz.That's some great Monday.
-
But there were way better options like Paan Singh Tomar, Gangs of Wasseypur and Kahani. They did not have to send a copy and paste movie like Barfi to the Oscars. People are pissed because of that. It is one thing that some talentless hack copies from 20 movies, but it is ridiculous to send it as the official Indian entry to the oscars.

Madagascar 3 Tuesday Update : $425,654,856.
Monday Gross is $1.56M
-
If this week also has school holidays, Madagascar 3 may be around AU$ 20M by next weekend.
-
I watched OMG yesterday. Pretty good movie. Very good screenplay and a fine performance by Paresh Rawal. 7:40 PM show was sold out in a 300 seater on a weekday.Barfi is a national shame. It is a remix of 20 plus hollywood movies. Pathetic.
-
Madagascar 3 : $424,098,237.Looks like the weekend actual went up $1.4 Million from estimates.Fantastic weekend.

The Matrix is phenomenal and Inception is not. The Matrix: A+Inception: B-

The drops are lower due to the Tuesday discount effect. That is why the drops for this tuesday looks better compared to the previous years.I was execting worse drops. These are in the 65-67% range. Not too bad.
