  1. Yes. Cycle 4 to be precise. Same season that had this- (Most people's reaction to IM3 OW)
  2. Serves studios right for so foolishly releasing them this close to IM3, vehicle of the Summer God.
  3. From now on, RDJ will be Summer God, (with Marvel being his Olympus) and JLaw will be Winter Goddess (THG movies will come out in November from now and all her award worthy films also come out in the same season).
  4. 175? Was hoping for at least 180! But this is an astounding number, no two ways about it. This comparison doesn't even make sense. Catching Fire is considered the very best in THG trilogy. The book is on a grander scale and is deeper than THG. With the right kind of marketing, the movie is definitely gonna increase on THG, not decrease. SM2 and HP2, on the other hand, were not really on a "grander scale" than their predecessors. HP2 is even regarded as weaker to HP1 and is one of the weakest movies in the entire HP franchise. SM2, despite the rave reviews, I don't find as fun and addictive as SM1, so I could definitely see why it went down. CF on the other hand has all the potential to be far more epic than THG.
  5. LOL @ how did Paltrow get 8 pack and MI4 shout out. And Word! to the person wondering how insane it is that RDJ, God of Hollywood, has still not received a Walk of Fame Star!!
  6. Frankly, I'm glad about the twist. Kingsley would have joined the long assembly line of Joker-influenced villains like Skyfall's Bardem and ST's Cumberbatch to name a few if they had played straight with The Mandarin, but the twist made him unique and awesome.
  7. That was a really fun scene. I cannot believe nobody ever thought of doing that even once before in the history of action films!
  8. He really is the best in the comics because the character and his world are a perfect mix of the pathos found in Batman and X-Men with the joy and lightheartedness of the Avengers. Plus, I am a sucker for all coming of age stories. Coming of age story + superheroism = Still hoping TASM2 is the first movie to closely capture the spectacular magic of the Spideyverse in more of its entirety.
  9. Dora the Explorer "Limited Edition" watch also proved to be pretty popular both times I watched. Also, did anyone else notice a replacement of said "Limited Edition" watch among the goodies Tony sent to Harley at the end? The new watch was right there next to the note from "The Mechanic". D'awww.
  10. Eiffel 65's "Blue" should be the show's theme song!
  11. More like IM3>>>>>>>>>TDKR. But to be fair, I feel BB>IM1. BB had obvious influences on IM1 and BB also had a far more effective climax.
  12. It also had loads of critics going meh over it and it fell off in a huge way domestically from its predecessor. It increased OS because of TDK goodwill + more markets + ticket price rise.
  13. The plane sequence is BOSS! Probably the best sequence in the entire trilogy so far, IMO.
  14. Exactly what Chewy said. The second time I watched it, it is apparent how much Killian was developed as a lethal threat, it is only not apparent in the first viewing because folks were still reeling from the consequences of the twist, and in the first half, were just not paying much attention to him when Mandarin was around. Also, doesn't the fact that Killian basically created the Mandarin automatically make him a million times more credible and devious than if there were an actual, terrorist Mandarin? It is just the level of theatricality and flamboyancy that the Mandarin possesses which makes him appear to be a greater evil. But that was the entire point of the movie- We create our own demons.
  15. Naah, kids are really loving the Tennessee part with the kid, the finale and of course, the mid-air rescue sequence. Doubt MoS will have so many big, fun moments for the kids.
  16. I thought the puppetmaster was a more credible threat than Whiplash and Iron Monger. He was far more calculating, had a far more ambitious plan- basically control the entire developed world with both POTUS (AIM supporting VP would become POTUS after the current one was killed off) and the most dangerous terror threat working for him, creating supply and demand all by himself, wanted to only use Tony as a tool instead of trying to get back at him/try to take over his industries, and even when he did a petty, personal thing like kidnap and Extremise Pepper, he admitted so. Physically too, he was a greater threat as he was damn near invincible. The fact that he was FAR harder to kill than other Extremis soldiers could be explained by assuming that he perfected the formula on himself. (Also note how Savin, high ranking henchman, was harder to kill than the regular Extremis soldiers like Ellen Brandt). I think the risk was worth it. They openly analyse the enthusiasm in making "terror figureheads" like Bin Laden, Gadaffi, Saddam more potent than they actually are, which is incredibly ballsy for a "fun and safe superhero blockbuster".
  17. Seriously. The Mandarin was always a racist caricature in the comics which even Marvel admits.
  18. Yes, coz Avengers effect and Thor/Loki fangurl powers are not to be underestimated.
  19. Just watched IM3 for the second time and had great fun once again. Really hoping this hits $180M OW. It will only be Spidey's TDK if Gwen dies in TASM2, and I have a feeling that will happen in TASM3 as I don't see Norman Osborn playing a big role in TASM2. But I still feel TASM2 can increase in a big way over TASM because it seems much more bigger, with more elements and doesn't have to deal with the origin this time around.
