Honestly, I'd love to see a prequel of the very first Purge where it shows how America in general reacted to the first Purge.
well, someone read your mind
This morning, I had the pleasure of diving deep into the world of The Purge thanks to a phone interview with James DeMonaco, and after discussing many aspects of the franchise (including the developing television series), I asked what he could tell me about The Purge 4. In addition to explaining that he will probably only write or produce and not direct the sequel, he told me that the plan for the next movie is to have it be set years before the first three films, dissecting how things managed to fall apart and let Purge Night become a thing. Said DeMonaco,
QuoteI don't think I'll direct it. I would actually go back and I would try to talk about how it all started. That seems the natural next chapter in this, is to say, 'Alright, we've done this trilogy. We see how it got to this point of someone trying to end it - this presidential figure. Now let's go back and see how the fuck all this came about.' How did this country get to a place where we were now accepting this kind of atrocity, this terrible thing, each year? I think there's something interesting in that. I don't think I'll direct, between you and I. You can print that, I mean. I'm thinking of maybe writing or at least producing it, to make sure it stays true to what I like about the movies.

It has little to do with popularity. We're talking quality here.
And actually at RT....KFP3, had a bit better ratings than 2.
You're basing it on the wrong reasons.
like I said, kfp3 was boring (imo). the first one was amazing, the 2nd - good, but the 3rd...is just another animation without nothing special.
Trolls is much better than Poe.btw: cinemagia is like rt or imdb in Romania. kfp2 has better ratings than 3. 8.1 vs 7.8.

Excuse me....but who the hell doesn't like KFP3??
It's an animated film of good quality....just like Finding Dory & Zootopia.
No wonder how people didn't see it many times on droves....back in January.
Anyone who thinks KFP3 ain't worth the reception.......my god, you have some serious problems.
well, here in my country KFP it's not a big franchise...we love many animations, but KFP is not one of them.
btw: here, the 3rd part was received worse than the 2nd.

NO NO NO NO NO!
c'mon...KFP3 is boring. the first one was amazing!
after Zootopia and The Secret Life of Pets, Trolls is the best animation of 2016.
FD is just a stupid fish!

I just checked its Israel gross and it did incredibly well for this kind of film. Not because of the opening, but because of its great legs. It will finish above the Star trek trilogy, and over 4 times as much as Ghostbusters. It also beat a bunch of big budget superhero films: Iron Man 1+2, Captain America 1, Ant Man.
same here! it had beautiful legs (x5) and also beat Green Lantern or Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles 1+2.

Maybe because it's a great movie and people loved it. Who knows?... In Romania, The Intern grossed more than Star Trek Beyond, Jason Bourne, The Huntsman: Winter's War, and many other movies that's supposed to be big hits. And I guess this fact happened in lots of countries

Well, I'm a little bit disappointed with this numbers. I was expected to break 200k adm. and $1M...or at least to beat SW7 in adm. Still, 150k adm it's a good/great start, and there's no reason why 50SD couldn't fly past $1.5m and 350k adm. Tuesday will be HUGE!
btw: I'm sure FF8 will be the first film who will destroy this 2 records. and I'm serious start thinking if FF8 can manage to break 250k adm in ow.
