Marco Costa Posted May 21, 2013 Share Posted May 21, 2013 (edited) Great wuxia movie with some Free Willy action Wuxia is a chinese genre of martial arts where the hero is a swordsman that follows a code of chivalry and where the heroes have supernatural powers like super strengh or being able to jump impossible heights. You can say that it's the answer to the japanese samurai movies with a special chinese twist. The genre was very popular in the 60's and 70's because of the Shaw Brothers studios and then wuxia movies ressurfaced in the 90's and in the 2000 onwards, being Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon the most popular example of that time. This wuxia movie The Moon Warriors is a very good example of a wuxia movie of the 90's with Andy Lau and Maggie Chan in the main roles, and action legend Sammo Hung in the director seat.
