Fancyarcher
Well about time someone made this page. This movie a little nostalgic since I had it when on video when I was a wee lad, and use to watch it all the time. Its not a bad movie, and I really do enjoy the framing sequences with Bugs Bunny doing a retrospective on him and other Looney Tunes (Daffy, Elmer, Porky, Pepe Le Pew, Wile Coyote and Road Runner obviously). I laughed at the sequence where Bugs Bunny talks about Mel Blanc (basically Mel Blanc acknowledging himself). Cartoons like What's Opera Doc and Duck Amuck are probably best appreciated watching full (this movie cuts about a minute from each short), but this is another way to enjoy them. I think later movies would probably do a better framing sequence, with some even having the cartoons cut together to a feature film with new footage (Daffy Duck's Quackbusters etc...). The film even uses live action footage when talking about the history of comedy and slapstick (incorporated nicely). You can probably call this film The Chuck Jones Movie, since he put it together entirely, and it only includes his cartoons. He doesn't even acknowledge Bob Clampett (because he considered Clampett to be a "phony" of sorts) or Tex Avery as Bugs Bunny fathers, but eh, you give what you get. I enjoy the history of man sequences. The animation's nice and overall the film still holds in spite of the fact that these shorts are better served in The Looney Tunes Golden Collection. 7 / 10 Edited May 25, 2014 by Fancyarcher
