The Meyerowitz Stories is a gripping family dramedy. The Meyerowitzes come off as a real family, showcasing incredible empathy and causing real pathos towards them. The entire ensemble is superb, although Sandler clearly sticks out as someone reinventing himself and delivering something incredibly special. Baumbach's direction and script are both the best I've seen yet, and it's just very strong. The structured nature of the story seems unnecessary at points, and the female roles are deserving of a little more focus, but, really. this is still a very strong work. The Meyerowitz Stories is a rare excellent addition to the Netflix film catalog, with fantastic comedy and drama anchored by a wonderful cast and a great script. A-
