Couldn't have been more reluctant about seeing this. A 140 minutes movie about violent activists set in the middle of the AIDS epidemic? No thanks.

 

But that 99% on RT was too irresistible to pass it up, so I gave it a shot, and oh boy, I couldn't be happier that I did.

 

Movie is fantastic and heartbreaking. Never once I felt its length. It feels appropriately heavy and not slight & run-of-the-mill like The Normal Heart, for example.

 

There’s a moment at the end where everyone is dacing in the dark at the sound of a eletronic beat. It’s a great ending scene, hopeful and tear-inducing. 9/10
