Focus Features acquired this movie from the Sundance Film Festival. It’s about a guy who builds a robot. In 2020, shortly before the release of Promising Young Woman, Focus Features made a deal with AMC to get a two-week theatrical window for their films before it hits VOD, and this film is an example of Focus’s new ability to release many smaller films in multiplexes as a result of that deal. The film releases on June 17th (Lightyear’s weekend) and seeks to counterprogram against pretty much everything.
