Doing great so far...can it top Ice Age 3's monstrous OS total though?
-
Wow, great weekend at UK cinemas!TASM with a huge opening compared to the other markets and Ice Age 4 dominating with previews, going to be huge opening next weekend!
-
Quite excited for Ice Age 4 and Spiderman numbers! Hurry up...
-
Bad summer here in the UK could mean big takings at the UK Box-Office!
-
Really? We have had some solid weekends OS already this year!BumpBiggest Intl. weekend year 2012 here we come !!
-
Finally reached $1.45b WW so lets hope this breaks out in Japan and mops up a few more million elsewhere OS so it can reach... $1.5 billion!
-
I think midweek numbers are good, OS total just been bumped up to:$118,677,915
-
Yes, very odd release here in the UK. Already open in normal version (barely anyone still speaks Gaelic) in Scotland and N.Ireland and open next weekend in England and Wales but 2 weekends of previews in England and Wales.Great news about TASM!IA4 has only been released in Scotlandand Norther Ireland? Was that a special Gaelic version?

4 £50M-ish films in one year?
Could happen for sure, which would be amazing!Though have my doubts on Skyfall reaching £50m as people may be put off still from QoS and Bond not as golden as before. But three £50m films could definitely happen, ever happened before?Should happen.
-
Never have and proud of that feat!

Saw TASM last night at Vue Westfield (one of the biggest in the UK) and it was packed with people seeing it as well and Orange Wednesday helped too!£10m opening is a lock at this point I think.
-
WB aren't allowing them because they think the american audience will be spoiled...It's quite pathetic. But, Australia get it a day before America...and they still have midnights. Doesn't really make sense, but there you have it.
Thanks guys!Still does not make any sense as people have to look up spoilers and they can ignore them too which is easy and as you said Australia can 'spoil' too so it seems really daft what WB are doing....WB decided that we can't have midnights in case we spoil it for the US, hence the 5am shows that have been popping up.Edit: Damn you heretic, you beat me to it
-
Very strange there are no midnight Dark Knight Rises screenings in the UK, they would sell very well!Should be seeing TASM tonight as well, will be packed with Orange Wednesday hopefully.
-
Avengers I tracked daily and what a run it has had, obsessed with the Japan finale now!

Over 6 day opening? £10m for sure! Maybe even £12m (risky call)...The 9:15 IMAX showing is close to being sold out. 2D showing that just started was like 75% full at least, in the biggest screen. It seems it's actually doing really well! And schools are still in.Tomorrow will be absolutely jammed...How high can it go? I think £10m should definitely happen...perhaps over £11m?
-
My local cinema sold out of both showings tonight for Amazing Spiderman, so it looks to be popular still!Going to see it tomorrow probably and should be very busy again with Orange Wednesday.

Shows how badly the UK needs a blockbuster, Spiderman today! With just £853,000 from 134 sites at the UK and Ireland box-office, Ice Age 4: Continental Drift is the first film to top the chart with a sum below £1m since The Other Guys did so on its third weekend of release in October 2010, and the lowest-grossing number-one film since Nicolas Cage actioner Next landed at the summit with £795,000 back in April 2007.
-
Indeed, but the weekend grosses look pathetic. We really need some big films now and thankfully Spiderman today which should make £10m as everyone loves Spiderman. Some very nice totals though.
-
That chart looks so bad, Box-Office will start picking up now with Spiderman and other big films!(And SWATH is back in the Top 10, has not disappeared already).
-
This does not seem to be doing good OS so far.
-
Not a single film over £1m looks bad (Ice Age 4 made most from previews and not technically out in whole UK).And what on earth made SWATH drop out of the Top 10, was 5th last week...
-
Ice Age 4 will have an insane OW in this way...
Yes this will be true, but IA4 is an anomaly as normally films do not have 2 weekends of previews or release early in Scotland. And an insane week 2 drop.
-
And Spain were in the Euro 2012 Final on Sunday evening and Spain loves football = box-office suffers!
-
West Europe are really in trouble. Even IA4 is decreasing there ...
Mexico 13.7France 11.8Brazil 6.8Australia 4.85Argentina 4.0Spain 4.0Colombia 3.2Peru 3.0Norway 2.4Central america 2.1Chile 2.0Sweden 2.0Turkey 1.3UAE 1.2Belgium 1.0Czech/SV 0.9Denmark 0.8Finnland 0.8
It made around $5.4m in the UK this weekend just from previews too.So if rest if Europe follows UK not France...West Europe are really in trouble. Even IA4 is decreasing there ...

Should get over $500m OS surely but Ice Age 4 is going to have a big impact on it OS and TASM does not have much time before Dark Knight Rises crushes everything. On the plus side, weekdays OS will be big as it is summer!
