  1. I doubt it'll have good enough legs in the UK to match TDK's gross. That film was a monster there. Not even TA could match it despite 4 years of inflation and 3D premiums. Spain also looks like it's headed for a drop. Opening was a little bit smaller than TDK.

Actually TA did make more than TDK here in the UK in £...TDK has only made more than TA in $ because of the exchange rate.
  2. I doubt it. It's more like no films in 2011 could match Avatar and Toy Story.

Possibly. But living in the UK, 3D is declining in poularity!

That is not what the are saying.

Interesting fact: in Uk Alice made on average £95,414 at a 3D site but only £19,506 at a 2D site, so when people see the value of 3D they also prefer it.

It is suggesting 3D is less popular if 2011 had way more 3D films than 2010 but the 3D box-office was down 4%.
  3. Let's see...The Avengers 3D estimates were about $30M... so about 14% of the $207M accounting.So... TDKR at $160M at ~ 14% would be $22M with 3D which would be $182M gross.Don't know if that's how you would account for it though, just my best guess.

Sounds about right, but I am very glad TDKR was just in 2D!
  4. TDKR would have made 500m without the shootings. I am sure of it. The UK and Australia openings really show this

I agree. The strong UK and Australia OWs mean the USA OW should have been higher. We will fully see when the UK and Australian cinema runs fizzle out and then see how behind TDKR is in the USA when comparing markets.
  5. The Dark Knight Rises has achieved the biggest three-day opening of 2012, since Avengers Assemble's £15.78m debut included £2.55m in previews.

    Great for TDKR! :D

Based on a heroic costumed comicbook vigilante, The Amazing Spider-Man was always going to face a tough challenge with the arrival of The Dark Knight Rises. And so it proved to be, with the webslinger tumbling 73% from the previous weekend

Ouch, expected a drop but not that big!

The Amazing Spider-Man is the seventh title released this year to pass £20m, following The Woman in Black, The Best Exotic Marigold Hotel, The Hunger Games, Marvel Avengers Assemble, Prometheus and Men in Black 3. At this time last year, six 2011 releases had passed the threshold: The King's Speech, Tangled, Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides, The Hangover: Part 2, Transformers: Dark of the Moon and Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows: Part 2. It's impressive that 2012 is more than holding its own against last year with regard to this particular measure, especially when you consider international football made much of June a no-go area for potential blockbusters.

    2012 looking much better than 2011! B)
