  1. I've obsessively watched movies for over a decade now. Probably more than 3000.

^^^That is about 1 Movie a Day over 1 Years????

Anyway, for me, I would say 7,000 over 30 years or 10,000 Days

    Baumer

Me having worst taste???? So what have you disagreed with me on????

And I Bet right now this second, you couldn't even name 5 of my reviews???

  3. They've already run into problems dragging answers out, I don't see how holding off on the "is she/isn't she" question for Robin really helps. In terms of the mother reveal, I think they had to do that now to give people a reason to tune in next year.

Well cause then they still could have had the, is Robin the Mother question going?

And I disagree as if they showed her from the back and played up in commericials that she  is coming to the showing the yellow umbrella...and then letting out the news that she was going to be in the show for the whole season....

Now, that would have been a ratings winner....

  4. Since this is movie-related, it should probably be in the Speakeasy.

    Only, Should Probably???

PS. I am glad you MOD training is coming along well.... ;)

  5. Ok, look here. I'm saying it the nice way since you didn't get it the first time. Either come here and answer that question seriously, without behaving like a prick, or just get out of here.

I just did above, copied below...and Tell Me why I am wrong Here?????????????

    >>> Anyway, I would bet that there are very few people that could match me on Liking and Seeing so many of the last 100 years of Movies...including every Movie Genre.

  6. Uhm... Uhm... GET OUT.

The creator of the thread has spoken.

Stop being Babies, I just answered the question that Alpha asked me...and noticed how I didn't even put that in my first response, even though I was thinking it.

Anyway, I would bet that there are very few people that could match me on Liking and Seeing so many of the last 100 years of Movies...including every Movie Genre.

Which people do you think have the best movie tastes around this forum?

How about let's hear your opinion instead of "where the thread should be."

I was trying to be Modest, but since you asked, the clear answer is ME!

That said, there are others here with some good taste, including some that talk Classic Movies, but I can't think of their names right now....as the Haters on the Board, don't let me enjoy the good ones.

  8. No idea...

Right... Which people do you think have the best movie tastes around this forum?

This is like a very big question, considering what type of forum this is.

You can WORST, too... If you want. (Careful, might start a fight or two)

Because it deals with Movies, and also in the Speakeasy, you will get the True Movie People to Discuss it, IMO....

This it has to be someone who likes most movie genres....including say Oscar Movies Today and Classic Movies of the Past.

PS. Shouldn't this be in the Speakeasy????

  10. God if it bothers you so much then close this one, as it is funny that MODS are concerned with these that have no traffic...and I was trying to ask questions to get people in here.

Just like Baumer closed my DC Superman thread where there were like 5 threads in the whole forum - saying that there were 10 other threads in the BO forum...Well why were all those dups allowed to say open???????????????

And why can't we have threads outside of the Box Office Forum, that talk about the movies and not the Box Office????

What are your Pre Expectations for Man of Steel, Opening June 14, 2013...based on trailers, casting and any other stories you have heard?

  11. Loved it!

Not quite as good as ST09, but the movie was just so damned entertaining (people saying it fell flat or was boring? I think they accidently went into the wrong screen :P).

To the person/s that said that those who loved Wrath of Khan won't like this. You're wrong (at least from my POV). I love Khan (best ST film, seen it a million times) and it in no way prevented me from enjoying this.

Also don't understand those saying that the film carried no emotional weight. I was rather moved by Pike's death and even more so by the Kirk 'death' scene, even whilst kinda knowing what was about to happen. To be fair I expect some of that has something to do with my attachment to the characters/franchise.

It's not perfect though. As others have said the script lets it down in many places (some of the jokes fell a bit flat). Also whilst I loved a lot of the references to the older films, overall they went a bit too far in that respect (probably could have done without Nimoy).

But the characters are so well acted (Cumberbatch was frikkin fantastic) and so much fun, and the direction so assured, that the flaws don't really matter.

    8.0/10

    A-

    Grade: A-

I found the film to a resounding fun ride. The dynamic of the cast and finding a way for Scotty to be involved outside Engineering was excellent. Addressing how Uhura and Spock work, or aren't working, as a couple was...fascinating. The nods throughout the film were nice easter eggs for long time Trek fans: The Mudd Incident, A Tribble,  Daystrom Institute, Section 31, Sulu sitting in the big chair and of course Nimoy's Spock cameo.

So once the film reveals it is indeed doing it's on spin on Wrath of Khan I settle in for the ride a bit differently. It's weird cause I totally stopped thinking about the movie I'm watching and now analyzing what is being done differently...for the sake of being different. This would bite me when Kirk dies....I was resigned to the fact that the next film would now be "The Search for Kirk"....my normally attentive thought process during a movie went away. I actually thought about what other Eco/Endangered Animal angle they might dare for their take on Voyage Home. I kinda zoned for a minute or so.  I had let the Khan's blood angle pass me by as just being a nod to throwing a tribble at us.

I really liked it and think it will stabilize with some decent legs over the next few weeks. Will likely try it one more time in June which doesn't have as many "must sees" for me.

I also really enjoyed it...and I am wondering if you think any Star Trek fans are bothered by the re-imaging of the past Star trek universe.....Me myself, I am fine with it....

PS. I only read the last 2 pages, but Scotty & Checkov always add to the enjoyment of the movies with Kirk & Uhura & then Spock....

  12. I can't give this an F because as a movie itself, in other words, if it was not a Hangover film, it would be passable, but as a Hangover film it is fucking horrible.  This is what happens when there is no creativity left.  This is what happens when you are under contract and have no real desire to make another film.  There are no laughs, there is no joy in the film.  This is a mean film and it is nasty.  There is a lot of animal violence in the film and that turned me off as well.  Giraffe, roosters and dogs all die...and some graphically.  I'll write more later when I'm not so mad.

    3/10

Yeah the Giraffe scene went too far.....but they have played 90 % of that scene already in trailers and TV....NOT SURE WHY/STUPID

PS. With the Last Scene, is there going to be a Hangover 4??????????

That said, I didn't hate it, as I enjoyed seeing John Goodman, Chow was crazy and made the movie?????

  13. I like how the thread title asks if you can go to the movies alone OR by yourself.

Its like, fuck yeah man, going alone is super sweet but don't you dare go by yourself, thats just evil.

Did that on purpose and look how long it took for anyone to catch?

Congrats for getting it...but it sure took you alongggggggggggg timeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  14. It's not uncommon for a close family friend to be called "Aunt" or "Uncle".In terms of TV directors, they're basically only hired guns. The people with the creative power are the show runners (often these are also the show creators).Back to HIMYM, I'm wary of them stretching out the 2 days before Robin and Barney's marriage for the whole (final) season. It sounds like a bad idea, but who knows? Maybe it'll work out.

    * Yes I know that but I am saying that the show made a mistake twice saying that Robin wasn't the mother.

    * OK, I said Director...but ways the show made a mistake

    * Seems like a bad idea, but hopefully they know what they are doing.

PS. Did the show make a mistake showing the Mother at the end of Season 8, instead of holding her out to the first episode of Season 9, as that could have been a big ratings grabber???
