The ape on the throne doesn't look like Kong plus his eyes are glowing blue like Godzilla's...an evil member of Kong's species with Godzilla-esque powers???

And life has been difficult, you know plus the fact that ticket prices have increased significantly. This is hard for families. Before the pandemic I could watch a movie for P240 - P280. Now it's P300 - P370. For a family of 4, that's very expensive, and that does not even include food.

(The) Philippines ($1M) is WB’s biggest opening of the pandemic and its best since Joker.
Deadline Black Adam B.O. article
A bit smaller than I expected, though I think the weak peso has something to do with that.

I find it disappointing that this is the Filipino film the moviegoing public chose to show up for.

It seems like Millie Bobby Brown, Alan Skarsgard, Kyle Chandler, and Julian Dennison aren't returning?
Cinematographer Ben Seresin and composer Junkie XL are back too. -

30% theater capacity, less screenings, and not all theaters are open. There is a surge in Covid cases due to Omicron and Holiday gatherings. There is a huge chance for the government to close all theaters again.
The hype is still huge though. Based on local news, theaters have never been this packed since Endgame. Long lines everywhere. Maybe $10 million+ is achievable if theaters won't close again.
Plus, the recent typhoon delayed the reopening of most cinemas in places like Cebu. Only 2 cinemas are open but they're fully booked for several days.

With roughly 300M overseas and domestic maybe getting 40-50M (i dont know it that is too optimistic?) the movie certainly will not be too great of a money looser for WB.
To think this can outgross KOTM globally. Wow. -

India was certain 6x KOTM OD in normalcy.
Indonesia is another market badly Hit in Asia. UAE hasn't done full potential numbers either and the 2nd biggest South Eastern market Phillipines is completely closed.Huge bummer because I can tell you a lot of Filipinos were definitely excited for GvK.

Asian reviews are out. The verdict's pretty much that the monsters are great, the humans not so much.

Sources are seeing GVK’s full international weekend range starting at about $70M with room to grow if China shines. This is the first major Hollywood popcorn title to hit turnstiles in several months and should it land anywhere above Tenet’s $53M international box office start, it would mark the biggest offshore debut for a studio movie in the pandemic era.
In China, where Legendary is handling the release, we are hearing projections of $50M on the low end with more bullish estimates reaching to $70M+.

Movie also features Rodan getting webbed in the face by Mothra and Godzilla laughing at him, Godzilla going full boxing on Ghidorah heads, and Ghidorah shooting Godzilla in the dick with his gravity beams.
Team-ups, bickering & chemistry building...that movie really is The Avengers of the Godzilla franchise (or maybe The Avengers is more of the GTTM analogue given the release dates).
