Yeah new movies will be seen by many together as theaters are shut so $20 is a good rental price. They have to recover the budget just from non-theatricals release.

They are saying these number are the worst in 20 years. That's it, theater chains need to shut it down. Take the losses now and rebound hopefully when this outbreak calms down. I know people are concerned about their "Freedoms", I get it, I'm an American. But look at how the public sector is responding. Kids are all out of school. People are telling their jobs they have to take off. People being in large crowds will only fuel this outbreak. When a outbreak is happening you have to make adjustments quickly or it can get worst. We have plenty of Home Entertainment for people to stay at home. In the 80's we would of only had VHS tapes, TV and Nintendo games. Look at what people have now? Entertainment won't be an issue during this possible Country wide shutdown. Movies are only gonna lose more money, shut it down. So far major cities today will be announcing a shutdown of theaters.
People had freedom to question the government on it's laggardness early on when dealing with the crisis. Question why it didn't do one thing to expand and optimize healthcare for 3+ years. People didn't use the non-violent weapons of speech and protest early on but now they want the freedom to do bar crawls.

Wouldn't watch F2 again even if I were paid to do so. On the other hand would gladly shell out a few bucks to rewatch F1. Vastly different movies in quality imo. A vs C

Unique circumstances so it's not on the movie at all, but still those stats are something to behold.

2020. The year where releasing a movie in January was more viable than releasing a movie in May.
Sonic and TIM release look very well timed. Sonic had a deep run compared to most movies right now.
Even Emma for that matter salvaged something by going wide last weekend.
CotW will loose much less money than Onward. They could have swapped release dates as CotW was not really Disney's own movie but all too easy to say now.

4.3 + 8 + 5.2 = 17.5 (-55%)
67.3 10-day
edit: With National Emergency declared it could do much lower.

Which would be the best virus/quarantine movies to watch:
- The Thing (1982)
- 10 Cloverfield Lane
- The Fog (1980)
- The Mist (2007)
- War of the Worlds
Honorable mention : The Happening so horrible it's unintentionally hilarious

Sunday was awfully low, but Monday and Tuesday are back to normal. We need Onward over $1.9mn today to continue this 52% thing, which is doable IMO. Zootopia had crazy 2nd weekdays and 3rd week which is where I see the ratio will start falling but let's see.
Even weekend #5 and #6 were great. The 35% drop in weekend #4 when BVS opened and it's still a strong hold. Onward won't have much comp apart from Mulan and Sonic already well into it's run though. It can do well enough for 150 and surprise but not more than that me thinks.
