not sure about that.
1983 if done well will work as it has a classic storyline of an underdog team winning world cup against all odds. The fact that it was THE reason for cricket craze in india cannot be understated.
what about 2011? India were fav to win anyways in home conditions
would love to see a movie about shoaib akhtar. rare talent and his team/management did not know how to use him. he said in a poignant interview that unlike with say more scientific management of pacers in england and australia, pcb didn't use scientific data to handle shoaib - what should be his exercise regimen, diet/nutrition, rest period etc going by his physique. for eg. they used to make him run rounds like all fast bowlers have to, but his build was different and it damaged his knees.
he came from a humble background and took time to learn how the world works. despite all odds he did make it to the list of greats but he could have been greater. then there was rivalry within the team like it often happens when spots are limited and selection is competitive. pakistan produces great bowlers as such but akhtar was still unique among them which makes his story interesting imo.

if films catering to kids and older audiences take a hit in legs, am prone to think it's the covid affect. those demos leg it very well usually and they happen to more vulnerable to the virus.
-
Can see 250 ww happen for Onwards.
68 ow * 3.25x + remaining markets (Japan am guessing)
But that's an abysmal ww for a 175m prod budget film.
- 1
-
Any Pixar original with 175 prod budget should be able to double Emoji dom (86) and ow (24.5) and thus matching it's legs (3.5x).

Wrong. Opening weekend has nothing to do having seen the movie, but all to do with marketing. if something doesn't look appealing, people won't see it. I don't have to see the movie to say that previews look rancid. I agree that corona is affecting everything but I also think that Onward wouldn't do much better without it and would be among the lowest grossing Pixar movies because it just didnn't look like a must-see. And given that it received the lowest score for a Pixar movie, legs wouldn't be great. It's a Pixar filler.
Onward looked too off and unrelatable to me. It's idiosyncrasies didn't all come together. People used to ask about Cars - headlights as eyes vs being on the windshield, speed/performance being dependent on engine/body parts vs will power/emotions, etc - but those things didn't bother me much. Onward's universe seems just too weird for the heck of it.

75 dom looks difficult for COTW and 80+ is too far away.

Many here were talking about Pixar high costs. Well Pixar is from Apple. It's iPhone and bound to be expensive from Android.
Pixar = iPhone
DW = Android (shuttles around and fits everywhere - opensource)
WAG/Sony = Windows (inconsistent, hit and miss, pricey enough)
Illumination = Samsung (BADA)
Blue Sky = Blackberry
WDAS = iPhone jailbreak

Sat 15.5-16

Am sure @Charlie's numbers are lower (and more accurate). Will aim to hit 100cr Nett with these numbers. Disappointing.

So wanted to make a Soul > Onward + Min2 Dom club...Would have made more sense before Onward numbers came in. Maybe will go with Soul > 2xOnward

My gut says this is on the A side of A- whereas Cars 2 was on the B+ side of A-.
Zootopia has a massive 4.1x True IM, but imo this will be lucky to hit HTTYD3’s 3.6x.
2+9.5*3.6->36. 100 could be tough with covid
hyyd3 was a tri-quel. despite some pixar front-loading i don't think it will do that badly. maybe 37.5 odd minimum with 9.5 true-fri.

With 9.5 true Fri / 11.5 od, 39-42 ow imo. Tough ask to hit 150 dom with that.

Onward will have some impact but anything aroudn 1.5m (316m cume) would be good for 320+ dom.
