  1. The same was said about the Star Trek franchise, until they rebooted it. Remember Star Trek Nemesis only grossed 43 million in the US in 2002. So that's a perfect example of a franchise that people got sick of. But was restarted, when smart producers/writers/directors recasted the original characters and used modern effects to make it a big popcorn summer action movie. Heck they even brought back Leonard Nimoy to play old Spock in a supporting role. The difference with Terminator Genesis, they will have Arnold as the lead. Since they will likely use CGI/Motion Capture for sections of the movie when his Terminator looks younger. Rather then totally recasting him at a younger age like in Star Trek. All in all these franchise and movies are only going to be as good as the people who are making them allow them to be. The Ellisons, Alan Taylor and writer from Cameron inter-circle put this movie in good hands.
  2. Verhoeven has directed a Hollywood movie since 2000 and is now 74 years old. Hollywood these days is all about finding young upcoming directors. So they will likely go with someone like that, if the movie happens.
  3. It was rumored he would play the main villain. But Fox said that rumor was false and reports have Stephen Lang is coming back.
  4. I 100 percent disagree. It's a franchise that's a bit down, but could easily be jump started.
  5. He's at the stage of his career, where people won't go too pay to see his movies in the theater, just for him anymore. I don't think they hate him or dislike him, they just aren't going to pay to see him in B movies. When he's got such a big resume of movies.
  6. Arnold or Stallone in a Tarantino movie would be a good for all involved.
  7. His last starring role came in T3 in 2003, his next starring role was in the Last Stand in 2013. Audiences didn't see him as a lead in a movie for ten years. Of course it doesn't, but it has a better chance at a hit. Then making these small B movies, that even if they are successful will only top out at 35-40 million anyways.
  8. Maybe you will buy him more in that role after you see him in Dawn of the Planet of the Apes. I don't mind the choice Clarke is a good actor and I'm not surprise Megan Ellison went with him. After she had him in Lawless and Zero Dark Thirty.
  9. Of course it is(especially worldwide) and making a new movie with modern effects is going to bring new fans as well. The grosses of T3 and Salvation despite not really being well liked movies shows that. You make a quality Terminator movie with all the modern effects that you see in Marvel movies. Well it's going to make a lot of money, especially worldwide. I'd be shocked if it doesn't gross 450-500 million worldwide. Plus I expect them to be a little smarter with the budget this time around keeping it at say 150 million(which is why they are shooting mostly in New Orleans). Then the bloated 200 million dollar budgets that T3 and Salvation had.
  10. Sure it would if the movie was a hit and well liked. It would open up his audience and create a bigger fan base for him. He basically made 20 years worth of movies. Then took 10 years off and came back with three straight B movies and expected them to be successful. It doesn't work like that in this day and age.
  11. LOL Terminator Genesis isn't going to bomb. As Arnold would say TRUST ME. The Terminator franchise is still very popular with the masses. Arnold returning will give it a boost. Plus it has very smart producers and a solid director. It's going to to look like a huge summer popcorn movie spectacle. Something that the masses are going to eat up and it will do HUGE numbers internationally.
  12. Hopefully this is a wake up call for Arnold. Because in his heyday he was always a great businessman when it came to movie career. But coming back with three smallish B-movies and thinking people would come out and see movies like that in the theater. Like they did in the 80s and 90s, just because he's in them. Has turned out to be a major mistake for him. Coming back and needing to make 8-10 million upfront per movie(plus some backend)and having to be one of the main leads. Shouldn't have been the first thing on his mind when returning. He should have gotten himself in big budget films, even if he was the second or third billed actor and got paid pennies. If he did stuff like that and then followed it up with lead roles in Terminator Genesis and Legend of Conan his career would be in a lot better standing right now.
  13. That kinda true, but I think success from Terminator could lead to more roles in big movies though. Even if he's a secondary lead to a younger actor. So it could be a domino effect for him going forward. As for Legend of Conan, it's just going to depend on the movie. I don't think Conan is a popular enough brand to be BIG even with Arnold returning. Unless the movie looks like a big spectacle that excites fan when they see the trailer. At this point though, I don't think it's a given Legend of Conan is going to be made. With the last Conan movie flopping, along with Legend of Hercules and Pompeii. I think Universal is going be watching carefully how Hercules with the Rock does this summer. Before they officially give Legend of Conan a green light. That said Chris Morgan is likely high regarded at Universal given how much money he's helped make the studio. So the movie has that going for it.
  14. Yep, that's the problem when you comeback with three straight B movies. Nobody wants to see Arnold in these small 35 million dollar budget films. Arnold needs to be in BIG or High Concept movies for people to come to the theater to see him. Other wise they will just wait to see stuff like Last Stand or Sabotage on DVD or Netflix. Especially when they can just put on a Terminator movie, Predator, Total Recall or True Lies if they need a Arnold fix.
  15. Nope the next one comes out July,1st 2015 . My guess is Triplets ends up coming out in November/early December 2015 as well. That movie would feature not only one has-been in Arnold. But three in Arnold, Eddie Murphy and Danny DeVito.
  16. Terrible numbers and the movie deserves better then that. It's not one of Arnold best, but it wasn't a bad movie either. Obviously Arnold carrying smallish movies isn't working. How Expendables 3 and Terminator Genesis do will be very important for him. If they do really well, then Legend of Conan could be green lighted. Or he could get secondary lead roles in big budget movies, like we seen with Harrison Ford in recent years. But one thing is clear, nobody wants to go to the theater in the US and pay to see Arnold in smallish 35-45 budget movies. Not with how many classic action movies he has under his resume. I think from now on, Arnold either needs to make BIG movies or nothing at all. Unless of course he just wants to do a quick movie while he's waiting for a big movie to happen and doesn't mind it going direct to VOD. Kinda like what he did last year with Maggie(made for 8-11 million). But it's pointless for him to keep making B action movies like Last Stand or Sabotage. People aren't really seeing those movies with any actor and they clearly aren't with Arnold either.
  17. Sounds like another flop for Arnold. Terminator Genesis can't come soon enough. I guess I shouldn't be surprised that his small movies that nobody cares aren't making any money. Most actors outside of Liam Neeson struggle with these type of movies. Honestly I don't have much interest in seeing Noah. But there's tons and tons more hype/buzz for that movie then Sabotage. So I'm glad that Arnold next lead movie will have that type of hype/buzz around it. Hopefully that leads to more BIG movies for Arnold. Because I don't think he's ever going to have much success with these small movies.
