I didn't know where else to put this, but considering it's about 2018, might as well put it here.
Anyways, Fandango just released their Top 10 Most Anticipated polls again. As always, it's important to understand these need to be taken with a grain of salt and don't automatically gurantee a movie will be a hit or a bomb, especially as there are dozens of films out that don't have any marketing yet to excite moviegoers. Also, remember that Zoolander 2 was #9 in the 2016 list. Hopefully, Fandango will do what they did last year and give us the Top 30.
Anyways:
Most anticipated movie:
1. Avengers: Infinity War (May 4)
2. Black Panther (Feb. 16)
3. Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom (June 22)
4. Untitled Deadpool sequel (June 1)
5. Solo: A Star Wars Story (May 25)
6. Incredibles 2 (June 15)
7. Fantastic Beasts: The Crimes of Grindelwald (Nov. 16)
8. A Wrinkle in Time (March 9)
9. X-Men: Dark Phoenix (Nov. 2)
10. Ocean’s 8 (June 8)
Fan favorite actress
1. Scarlett Johansson (Infinity War, Isle of Dogs)
2. Jennifer Lawrence (Red Sparrow, Dark Phoenix)
3. Zoe Saldana (Infinity War)
4. Sandra Bullock (Ocean’s 8)
5. Emilia Clarke (Solo)
Fan favorite actor
1. Chris Pratt (Infinity War, Fallen Kingdom)
2. Ryan Reynolds (Deadpool 2)
3. Robert Downey Jr. (Infinity War)
4. Chris Evans (Infinity War)
5. Dwayne Johnson (Skyscraper, Rampage)
Rising female movie star
1. Danai Gurira (Black Panther)
2. Storm Reid (A Wrinkle in Time)
3. Zazie Beetz (Deadpool 2)
4. Olivia Cooke (Thoroughbreds, Ready Player One)
5. Pixie Davies (Mary Poppins Returns)
Rising male movie star
1. Alden Ehrenreich (Solo)
2. Winston Duke (Black Panther)
3. Tye Sheridan (Ready Player One)
4. Levi Miller (A Wrinkle in Time)
5. Charlie Heaton (The New Mutants)
Most anticipated comic-book character in a standalone movie
1. Chadwick Boseman as Black Panther (Black Panther)
2. Jason Momoa as Aquaman (Aquaman)
3. Tom Hardy as Venom (Venom)
4. Sophie Turner as Jean Grey/Phoenix (Dark Phoenix)
5. Evangeline Lilly as The Wasp (Ant-Man and the Wasp)
Most anticipated movie villain
1. Josh Brolin as Thanos (Infinity War)
2. Johnny Depp as Gellert Grindelwald (The Crimes of Grindelwald)
3. Michael B. Jordan as Erik Killmonger (Black Panther)
4. Jessica Chastain as the yet-to-be-revealed villain (Dark Phoenix)
5. Nick Castle as Michael Myers (Halloween)
Most anticipated horror thriller
1. Untitled Cloverfield movie
2. Halloween
3. The Purge: The Island
4. Insidious: The Last Key
5. A Quiet Place
Most anticipated family movie
1. Incredibles 2
2. A Wrinkle in Time
3. Mary Poppins Returns
4. Ralph Breaks the Internet: Wreck-It Ralph 2
5. Hotel Transylvania 3: Summer Vacation
Quick thoughts:
-A Wrinkle in Time appearing in the top 10 could be because it already has marketing, but the fact it beat out films like Ant-Man and Ready Player One seems relatively impressive.
-LOL at Cloverfield being the most anticipated horror film. Hey Paramount, I think you should start your marketing now. Also, New Mutants not making the top 5 is disconcerting. Unless Fandango put it in the superhero category instead of horror, so...
-The lack of representation of RPO outside of Tye Sheridan and Olivia Cooke is a touch disconcerting.
-I know it's because people were introduced to him in the first film, but Depp over Jordan, Chastain, and Castle is just...ew. (dcasey, don't you even dare try to make a flame war here)
But again, take all of this with all of the grains of salt in the world.

Again, the only thing I want Jumanji to do is to cross $305M. That way, it beats Skyfall, and becomes Sony's biggest non-Spidey film.

Could Darkest Hour reach the 100M mark?

Why do you people think, that Ready Player One (a movie, that filled with cultural references and easter eggs, that spans several decades of generations!) is not a lock for 100m yet? Lol Its like you can't see people going into the cinemas just to see Freddy Kruger, King Kong and Chuck The Doll and Iron giant while main character drives Delorian around! Don't be ridiculous! This thing isn't only making 100m, but it will open as big as your typical Star Wars saga movie, then it will do Avatar bussiness later on!

Time to prepare for the Oscars. This week I will try to watch The Florida Project, Bright and Lady Bird.
One of those movies is not like the others.

10th anniversary of this masterpiece coming up.
I still remember little 10 year old me seeing that poster in the theater once, and being absolutely traumatized by the mouth-eye things.

As people know I was gone for several months. Well I just finally noticed that Sad Ben is gone!
Where the HELL is my Sad Ben, dammit!Yeah, yeah, so late to the party that I actually arrived at another one. Long hair, don't care.
...
...
If someone has Sad Ben stored as a gif that I can put on my imgur account, I'd appreciate it.
We got rid of it and replaced it with Doctor Who, because...well, Affleck's kinda been in the news recently.

So close, and yet so far.
Predictions for next year:
1. Fifty Shades Freed
2. Black Panther
3. Ready Player One
4. New Mutants
5. Rampage
6. Infinity War
7. Solo
8. Deadpool 2
9. Oceans 8
10. Incredibles 2
11. JW 2
12. Ant-Man and the Wasp
13. Hotel Transylvania 3
14. M:I 6
15. Venom
16. Halloween
17. Dark Phoenix
18. The Grinch
19. Fantastic Beasts
20. Ralph 2
21. Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse
22. Aquaman
23. Mary Poppins Returns
I'm a little shaky on a couple of them, but if there's one or two breakouts in the mix (The Post, Wrinkle in Time, Nutcracker), maybe it'll be broken next year?

Has anyone on here done a winners and losers list for box office before on the site?
@cookie did some unfinished retrospectives on 2015 and 2016.
And I heard through the grapevine someone with a Daisy Ridley avatar is planning on doing one for 2017.

I did a forecast on Saturday with it finishing at 297M, but with Sunday and Monday surpassing all of our expectations, I think it'll easily cross 300M.
Hopefully it crosses $305M. Then it would be Sony's biggest non-Spidey flick ever.

Sorry if you already did this, but what do you think Jumanji's run will look like? I was looking at BOM, and if this beats Night at the Museum, it will beat Men in Black and be Sony's biggest non-Spider-Man/non-Bond film ever.

Sony / Screen Gems 1/12/18 Peter Rabbit Sony / Columbia 2/9/18 Alpha Sony / Columbia 3/2/18 Paul, Apostle of Christ Sony / Columbia 3/28/18 Slenderman Sony / Screen Gems 5/18/18 Sicario 2: Soldado Sony / Columbia 6/29/18 Hotel Transylvania 3: Summer Vacation Sony / Columbia 7/13/18 The Equalizer 2 Sony / Columbia 8/3/18 Barbie Sony / Columbia 8/8/18 Cadaver Sony / Screen Gems 8/24/18 Goosebumps 2 Sony / Columbia 9/21/18 Venom (2018) Sony / Columbia 10/5/18 The Girl in the Spider's Web Sony / Columbia 10/19/18 Holmes & Watson Sony / Columbia 11/9/18 Spider-Man: Into The Spider-Verse (3D) Sony / Columbia Venom will do it easily I think
Hotel Transylvania and Spider-Man also have a good shot at crossing it too.
The rest are LOL

If you want to avoid SW discussion and circling arguments about the film, join me in talking about the other movies:

Because Clay mentioned this thread and debating Star Wars is no longer fun:
I'll gladly eat crow on my original predictions that Jumanji was going below Journey 2 adjusted. NATM numbers are in the bag, and while $300M is a longshot, that would be absolutely amazing to see. (Or maybe it won't be that hard. Paddington 2 seems like the only real hurdle for the film)
All the Money was a little disappointing to me. I thought the Plummer/Spacey switch-up and good reviews could have gotten it above $5M. But I guess it would have made far less with Spacey in the role, so it's all kinda moot.

Symbolic. Fate of the Furious and Jumanji teaming up to keep JL out of the top 10. Family indeed.
The one thing Rock and Tyrese are both equally happy about.
