  1. Feels like we do this "are Turning Red/Luca/Soul really hits and would they be box office hits" stuff every month now. We need new material here pronto.
  2. Very excited to know what your list is. I know it's going to be the best out of all these clowns, but how good? Very curious indeed.
  3. Reminder that the Top 100 Disney Movies countdown will start this October. 👀 Also, you lot have only a few hours, whatever is 11:59 at your time zone, to PM me your top 100 Warner Bros. movies. For more info, look here:
  4. I mean the Toy Story films are all "we have to go back home before X happens" and all still feel different enough in terms of tone and execution. And even then, some people criticized Toy Story 3 for just being the exact same plot as Toy Story 2. I'm not all that enthused by the creative decisions and team so far (though I get why Docter isn't directing), but I don't really think being "the same movie" is that big a deal.
  5. Is it? That feels like one of the few recent Pixar movies that has incredible sequel potential. You can show Riley grow up as a teenager, grow up as an adult, show the emotions handle all these changes, how they grow, how new emotions come into the picture, etc. It's the perfect template to do what the Toy Story movies did with Andy and I think people would be interested in seeing the creative avenues these kinds of stories would take.
  6. Yeah, that new Lion King is destined for bomb city. The big problem these remakes have, even the better of them, is their only hook is the novelty of seeing the songs and sequences and aesthetics from the animated movie "come to life". This obviously works, and even from different movie to different movie, but that doesn't really get people excited to see a follow-up. Alice 2 and Maleficent 2 learned this, even if the latter still did fine enough. Even if the Will Smith slap didn't happen and Aladdin 2 was fast-tracked, it would have done like half of the last movie. People want to see the stuff they want to see they remembered when they were kids and nothing else. The only way to really continue these live-action remake universes if you want franchise extensions is to just make a Disney+ series. Something you see while scrolling on Disney+ and say, "yeah, why not?"

  8. Moderation Okay, we’re finished with this Sound of Freedom discourse. Some folks just aren’t gonna listen, so there is no point letting this go on. Any continuation of this discourse will result in a threadban.
  9. I got it. I just don’t feel like looking through those hundreds of tags to exclude users who sent stuff in.
  10. I've gotten the trailer a couple times, and I honestly can understand both the low awareness and interest metrics. The first movie feels like one of those hits that made money but left little impact, and the trailers for this new movie makes it look like more of the same. Granted I'm not a monster movie fan, so I'm not the target demo, but it's never a good thing when a sequel to a movie's main hook is "yeah, we're doing the same schtick again". Am I missing something? I thought Blue Beetle and Aquaman 2 were still in the DCEU timeframe and that Gunn's Superman kicked off the new DC universe.

  12. Mars Needs Moms has one of the funniest and weirdest mixed messages I have ever seen in a kids movie. "Hey kids, if you listen to your mom, give them tons of love and respect and do what you ask them to do, martians will come and take them away" As long as Elio doesn't teach kids stuff like that, it should do fine
  13. If it follows Inside Out's run at the same point in time: 129.9M If it follows Finding Nemo: 158.6M So we should be getting somewhere inbetween there.
  14. Only one day remains. Get it to me by tomorrow, or else you'll miss out on an epic countdown for the ages. @21C@35MM-18@3jp@4815162342@75Live@8wombi7@A Star is Orm@abra@abracadabra1998@AdrianL@Alex 15. Oh come on. This is embarrassing at this point. Call it an OD lol
  16. I saw the trailer today in front of Indy. I've already been pretty down on this movie, at least compared to the sky-high "TGM will boost it" predictions, but this really doesn't seem to have much new to offer. I like Mission: Impossible a lot, but the trailers just make this look like the same old same old. What exactly is the hook here outside of "it's another Mission: Impossible"? It's also something I brought up in the tracking thread a while back, but I think it also doesn't help that this is the kind of movie where its main audience is old white guys, and they don't go to theaters much anymore. It says a lot that the new Transformers, which is also being hit by franchise fatigue and crappy predecessors, opened higher than the new Indiana Jones and Flash without the benefits of a holiday weekend boosting its opening.
  17. Sometimes I wonder when execs green light stuff like this or that Snake Eyes movie, looking at the creative talent they are given and the franchise they are hawking off, do they know these movies are gonna bomb? Because anybody with a brain knows a “Tron movie with Jared Leto directed by the Maleficent 2 guy” will be a giant bomb. I don’t understand this.
  18. Moderation @grim22 if you continue these fights with Zatt, you will lead me with no choice but to threadban you. Cut it out or I will cut you out.
  19. This whole “is this for kids” discourse is weird. Like 95% of PG-13 movies are kids movies and are aimed and marketed towards a child audience. And I doubt there’s anything worse in a typical Marvel movie. The Jumanji movies are full of innuendos and penis jokes and they won Kids Choice Awards. This won’t be a big deal at all.
