  1. The thing is I agree with you. But I'm not talking about that. For the past week you were all "Deadline's so pompous, being sure of themselves when they said 'Dumbo will fly in with 65M.'" It's just a strange thing to get all weirdly obsessed over for a whole week.
  2. Also released on Trans Day of Visibility. Fitting in a way
  3. Are your parents okay with you smoking weed? If I was 17 and my parents found out I smoked weed, I wouldn't even be here posting.
  4. I'd blame 20th Century Women's performance more on the fact it was surrounded by movies with larger Oscar buzz than any expansion (yes, I know it was nominated for two Globes, but...c'mon). A couple of the movies you listed also didn't even reach 600 theaters either, so I don't really know what you're going at here. I do at least agree with you on Spectacular Now and especially A Most Violent Year.
  5. I was just rummaging through McConaughey's filmography, and I just noticed White Boy Rick. I completely forgot that movie existed until just now. And I paid money in theaters to see it!
  6. I saw The Favourite at the local arthouse, and it was clear the majority of the old people there did not expect the movie they watched lol
  7. I'm sure I'll be proven wrong, but I think A24 has done relatively fine with some of their movies. Obviously this panned out badly, and I feel Eighth Grade shoulda done better, but I can't think of any other times A24 screwed the pooch in their expansion plans.
  8. It's gonna be like the piano in Mario 64 (the DS version of that piano terrified me as a kid. Even worse since I was taking piano lessons at that time)
  9. Speaking of re-releases, one of the theaters is playing The Simpsons Movie in a couple of weeks with a $5 admission, and I'm hyped to see it again (if school doesn't get in the way).
  10. Generally these re-releases are less about making big grosses (well, it was about making big grosses once Lion King 3D made all that money, but typically...), and more about maintaining popularity and fandom for a classic movie and siphoning out a couple of quick bucks. There's also little cost in re-releasing and sometimes even marketing, so it's low-risk and mild reward.
