Wow, the guy who runs DC Films would say a film he is about to release is amazing? Almost like it’s his job to push these movies and that it would be weird if he trashed it or said it was mid or whatever. Also it’s been known for years, decades in fact, that test screenings are not an exact science and don’t always correlate to audience/critical reception. Why are we ganging up on this random movie over this? You guys are acting so weird over this.

The Box Office Buzz and Tracking Thread (December 2021 - July 2023)

The Flash Greater Philadelphia Area Seat Report Final Count Sellouts Showings Seats Sold Total Seats Perct Sold TOTALS 0 117 5078 21918 23.17% Total Seats Sold Today: 1,716 Comp 0.408x of The Batman (8.8M) 0.807x of Jurassic World 3 (14.53M) 0.371x of Thor 4 (10.77M) 1.438x of Black Adam (10.93M) 0.837x of Avatar 2 (14.23M) 0.548x of Ant-Man 3 (9.6M) 0.605x of Guardians 3 (10.58M) 0.657x of Spider-Verse (11.39M) Like I said before, this will be the last film that I will track for a while, as I'm going on a hiatus from the tracking team. It's a tough combination of wanting a better work-life balance, which I feel tracking does not help accomplish, as well as my own dissatisfaction and frustrations with tracking in general. I hope to perhaps one day return to this domain, but I think it's better for my own mental health and personal life if I take time away from this. Thank you to everybody who has been following me and my reports over the last few years, as far back as 2017, and thank you as always to my fellow Tracking Team/Think Tank members for the incredible work you lot do each and every day. I can't say when I'll be back, but I hope to return to the practice sometime soon when I have a better schedule and a stronger passion for the job. However, I will be doing updates for everybody on The Quorum and how their awareness/interest metrics track with other releases, so I won't be away from this thread. Just going to be taking a backseat. I hope you all understand and will still be happy with the new, far lighter work I have planned for this thread. -

Okay, let's get through this as quick as we can. The Flash and its box office potential has been a very contested and controversial topic. It was supposed to be one of the greatest comic book movies ever! It was supposed to be this mega giant hit because of all the cameos! Nobody cares about Michael Keaton as Batman! Ezra Miller is too toxic! Everybody and their cat have their knives out against somebody here. So it's important first and foremost to lead into some ground rules and reaffirmations. 1. Yes, you can be positive or negative on the film's commercial prospects. So long as you don't insult others, condescend to those with a different opinion, etc. If you aren't being respectful to your fellow BOT members, you will see warning points and a possible threadban. No exceptions. 2. To DC fans, please don't take people disliking the film as a personal attack. Critics aren't purposely trying to be negative on the movie, many BOT users don't have an agenda when they say the movie looks bad. Just try to enjoy the ride and have a good time. 3. To DC haters, this isn't going to be an epic bomb or failure. It doesn't cost 200M, Michael Keaton isn't a nobody, people like his Batman, and we're going to get tons of DC movies for years and years to come. There's no need to be doom and gloom and start unnecessary trolling. 4. Fanboy Wars is not allowed unless absolutely necessary (comparing one film's box office to another as an example). We don't need some "Marvel rocks, DC sucks" stuff at any time, and we especially don't need it here. So if you want to do some petty fanboy nonsense, go somewhere else. As I always like to say, if you don't like how this forum's run, there's plenty of other areas to talk about Marvel movies, DC movies, and so on. 5. No spoilers, as per usual. Any spoilers revealed publicly here will result in a threadban. No exceptions. We will have this thread locked until the first preview numbers come in. Thank you.

This feels like the setup to a really weird, but hilarious episode of Beavis and Butt-Head. -
