Bullet Train Greater Philadelphia Area Seat Report Final Count Sellouts Showings Seats Sold Total Seats Perct Sold TOTALS 0 100 1752 19475 9.00% Total Seats Sold Today: 620 Comp 2.687x of Snake Eyes (3.76M) 0.862x of The Suicide Squad (3.53M) 2.503x of Free Guy (5.51M) 0.602x of No Time to Die (3.79M) 0.750x of Dune (3.82M) 1.269x of Uncharted (4.69M) 1.714x of The Lost City (5.57M) 0.744x of Fantastic Beasts 3 (4.46M) 0.341x of Top Gun 2 (6.56M) 0.278x of Jurassic World 3 (5.01M) 1.631x of Elvis (5.71M) So...we should hopefully get something in the high 3s? That would still make 30M+ possible in that scenario. -
Honestly I think copying Marvel, even if it stumbled previously, makes a good amount of sense. The way the MCU is run is far from perfect, but fans are still "forced" (yes I know some people don’t watch every movie) to see movies and characters they may not care about to follow what’s going on and there’s all these fun and exciting teases for the big crossover event that gets you invested in the whole piece, even when there is a crummy film here and there. People love crossovers and characters popping up in cameos and stuff (Smash Bros. and Multiversus show that). It can be annoying and cynical for sure, especially with the Disney+ shows now part of the homework and the MCU’s recent hiccups with their movies, but it clearly works. Now, each DC character/franchise basically has their own little universe, which in turn means their own fanbase. Which is kind of true of the MCU granted, but the broad DCEU fandom that watches everything isn’t really that potent and I don’t really see much of an intersection from fanbase to fanbase. I’m not saying they have to restore the Snyderverse or whatever, and standalone stuff like Joker obviously works, but there’s also demand and interest in seeing shared universes that feel like a universe and have characters crossover and pop up during certain adventures. So DC going stand-alone with their characters, putting them in their own little sandboxes, and not having something exciting to build up towards feels like a huge missed opportunity they are wasting on. It says a lot that during the Black Adam Comic-Con panel, there was way more excitement over the idea of Henry Cavill appearing as Superman in the Black Adam movie than anything that was revealed in the Black Adam movie itself. And I don’t think this is just a “Twitter bubble” or “Snyder cult” thing.

Well...yeah. Almost every single film that was skewing to an older audience or was an awards hopeful last year tanked because of a virus that was volatile towards seniors and old folk. Even NTTD arguably underperformed here in the States because of this. And just this year, even if you want to argue these movies could have made more, Lost City, Elvis, Crawdads, and Mrs. Harris are all doing relatively strong numbers. That doesn't seem like a coincidence to me. Plus there's the whole HBO Max issue which hurt every single movie that year. And even then, you're acting like this has zero audience appeal. I didn't care for the movie myself, but it's not this esoteric or avant-garde piece, but just a neo-Western character drama with hangout elements mixed with solid stakes. Like why would you not greenlight something like this, especially since its 33M budget isn't that massive and Eastwood has delivered successful films many times in the past. I'm not saying it would make more than Sully or anything and I doubt it would have been that big a hit, but I sincerely doubt it would only do 16M in totally normal times.
