Slightly off-topic, but I discovered Disney actually did create an attraction based on the live-action Alice in Wonderland remake called Mad T Party (yes, really) at California Adventure. It was basically a concert venue/dance party that featured a rock band dressed up as characters from the 2010 movie doing covers of famous pop songs. Interestingly, the attraction was shut down about two months before Through the Looking Glass came out. I guess that closure was the first sign that movie was going to flop.

btw @Porthos CN's Mad also did a whole segment spoofing The Clone Wars. It's basically a more kid-friendly version of those Robot Chicken Star Wars specials

The Lion King Greater Philadelphia Area Seat Report T-15 Days and Counting Sellouts Showings Seats Sold Total Seats Perct Sold TOTALS 0 100 1,234 18,477 6.68% Total Seats Sold Today: 52 Literally half of yesterday when it comes to tickets sold. I expected that, since yesterday was a big promo day, and this still seems solid. -
Disappointing to hear about its folding. I was never a subscriber, but I always liked flipping through an issue whenever I was visiting a library or bookstore. I did follow the Mad Magazine TV show that aired on Cartoon Network from 2010 to 2013 when it was on though. It's certainly dated now, since it relied on spoofing whatever was topical in that time period (they did so many Twilight jokes), but it still had its charm,

I'm pretty sure Disney never had Depp's Mad Hatter as a walkaround character, even when the first movie was at its peak in popularity, so I don't see why Berry's Ariel would be any different. And I'm pretty sure the Pirates of the Caribbean ride was the only thing at one of the parks to see a notable change after a movie came out (but I wouldn't oppose to an Emily Blunt animatronic at the Jungle Cruise ride).

Actually looking further, Basterds had 70M and Django had 100M. Guess this is just the norm for Tarantula over here -

I just checked Wikipedia (I know), and it states a 90M budget. I guess Sony really wanted to have Tarantino for their studio, and decided to give him carte blanche when it comes to money (Tarantino, Leo, Pitt and Robbie also probably demanded some pretty hefty paychecks) -

But even then, when you look at the data, stuff that opened that week still had okay drops. Sicario stayed flat, and Uncle Drew only dropped 13%. Tarzan and BFG did only 32% and 27% respectively, which is fantastic for a Monday. Lone Ranger increased for goodness sake. What I was trying to show is that movies don't drop hard, and that definitely applies to openers.
