I mean it's corny to a fault, but I think that's what makes it so appealing. It's got charm and heart for days and it still has a good backbone with the family dynamic that makes it captivating.
Though I'll admit part of my appreciation could just come from "Both Sides Now" being an integral plot point. That's a song that makes me emotional even thinking about it.
Next year's BP lineup is probably gonna be some disgusting lineup of Avatar 2, Black Panther 2, Lightyear, Top Gun 2, Knives Out 2, Nope, The Batman, Spider-Verse 2, and maybe sprinkle in Fabelmans and Elvis just to go a little artsy. I'll take this write-off year while I can get it before AMPAS forces itself to be the People's Choice Awards
I don't know what the release plan is, but do watch Drive My Car if it comes to your area. Its Best Picture nomination is well-deserved, with an utterly phenomenal climax that still gives me chills.
