....I wonder if this is retooled King of the Elves.

Either way I am totally here for it. Pity Pixar doesn't do adaptations, I half expected this to be putting the book Faerie Wars to screen.

It would be odd imo if Pixar took WDAS project (even though kind of interesting idea). But Pixar does not adaptations in the first place and urban fantasy isnt that difficult concept to think anyway. I have actually wanted Pixar to do this kind of premise. Another one I gave though they should do is time-travel concept which migt fit Pixar even more I think.

I really thought it would do better. Even the original Cars opened over $60M 11 years ago without 3D. The fact that this couldn't even crack $55M is a failure in my eyes.

I'll have my hat and my crow with some barbecue sauce, thank you very much.

That happens when the sequel does not generate any goodwill for the franchise. And people see it as a more of a kiddle mercandice series now than back with first Cars when it had more an image of being about racing and Route 66 that was just a bit more kiddle than usual Pixar films.

So, KFP trilogy, HTTYD1 and 2, Shrek 1 and 2, Mr Peabody, Madagascar 3, Prince of Egypt, Chicken Run, Wallace and Gromit, and to a lesser extent Megamind are mediocre. I meant more mediocre than their 04'-08' era and recently. But thanks to Universal owning them they can make bank again.

You can't take your favorite Dreamworks films and say that average of those is above mediocre. Sinbad, Shrek 3 and 4, Shark Tale, Monsters VS Aliens and Turbo bring down the average down quite a bit and then there is plenty of actually mediocre films that are in neither list. And like cannastop said, some of those you mentioned are mediocre too.

I don't think it will, for the same reason the RT score for Beauty and the Beast will be mostly irrelevant next weekend.  The brands are entrenched, meaning people have already decided whether they like the product or not, and are unlikely to be persuaded to change their minds.  If someone loves the animated Beauty and the Beast, they aren't likely to be discouraged by reviews saying it is the same thing.  Likewise, I just can't see the Power Rangers movie suddenly turning a whole bunch of moviegoers who have not seen the show in years into PR fans, even should that movie have good reviews.

I love the animated Beauty and the Beasts and I am not seeing ths of its just the same film the animated film was but a lesser version. But I have not been interested in any of their live action adaptations so far apart from Jungle Book so I guess my views are not the what most people who watch these films have.

So with everybody falling in love with Moana.

Where did the early buzz of a mediocre movie come from?
It happens now with every 2nd movie. It killed Ghostbusters, it's about to kill Passengers. They tried it with Moana.

I'm really to starting to ask, if this is a studio war including social bots.

I feel like it's getting worse and worse.

Social Media is so full of negativity.

People just need to ignore Twitter reactions. There has been some fan friendly films getting unreasonably good buzz beforehand as well.

Knowing the Internet there's probably a twelve page essay written by a fan explaining all of this.

I actually think this is a universe nobody can explain. Which is why it is so hated, people a dissapointed and frustrated with the whole consept and not just the kids/merchandicing aspect.

A rare franchise where "it was all just a dream" might be welcome by some people. And I doupt the kid fans would even care.

Wait, wasn't the lead going to be black in this??

Also holy crap, she blew away loads of good actresses to get this role, that's impressive considering how many people actually seem to dislike her acting.

I sense like this could backfire on the internet.

I'll go to the correct thread to discuss this.

Are you sure that this for the same role the other actresses were considered? The film could have 2 important female characters. But I am glad she got this part, I have always been a fan. I do not know if people get that Daenerys is suopposed to be acting a role of Queen in the show in a way so that is why she isn't natural always.

I will to to the correct thread too, probably tomorrow however, its pretty late.

Mater's back to a side character too, which is good.

I think this could be considered a win for Pixar if it gets a reception close to the first's. They'll very likely start marketing Coco soon after and this could be seen as a decent appetizer

Who is the main character? I do not want Lightning to be main charcater either, he is not even now likable and his charcater arch is over.

  9. My annoying teenage brother is really anti-Christian at the moment but otherwise loves based on true story war films like this. Do you think it is good idea to get him watch this film with me? I want to see this film anyway when it comes to my country but I wonder if I should bring my brother since I am Christian and I wonder if he is just going to think I wanted him to watch the film because of that and not because it looks great.

Awkwafina...? Is she a YouTube star or something? How did she beat others to join the cast full of Oscar winners (and a nominee) like Sandra Bullock, Cate Blanchett, Anne Hathaway and Helena Bonham Carter?

She is kind of odd woman out in such a star stuffed cast, kind of funny.

Frozen has stolen a lot of its thunder (if not all). Also, Oz tales don't seem to do all that well OS.

I never watched the show but the original book is LIT! If that had been made into a premium HBO/Netflix adult skewing mini-series, we would be seeing a whole other level of quality.

Still think this adaptation would be better served as an animation though:

Why there was some Pocahontas sounding music there?

Yeah, it's totally not like 9 year olds don't know those words and hear them at school.  When I was 9, everyone at my school knew what each of those words are.

And they said "shit" like once.  I also didn't notice any dick joke, so I don't know what you're smoking there.

I do not know why children learning words is the only reason the should not hear them, it is more like them thinking they can and should use some words constantly to be cool if they hear them often, it teaches bad manners and kids do not know that people can be offended by them like slut and bitch and stuff. And some swear words can just be disturbing for kids.

    1. Star Wars: Episode VIII - $750M

    2: The LEGO Batman Movie - $380M

    3. Spider-Man: Homecoming - $330M

4: Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Men Tell No Tales - $310M

    5. Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 - ~$300M

    6: Justice League: Part 1 - ~$300M

    7: Fast and Furious 8 -  ~$290M

    8: Beauty and the Beast - $290M

    9: Kong: Skull Island - $240M

    10: Thor: Ragnarok - $240M

11: Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Men Tell No Tales - $240M

(This assuming Deadpool 2 is 2018)

These numbers are all too high (except Star Wars, which could double the take of the second place movie) but yes, LEGO Batman will outstrip the other superhero movies in 2017 (if it's as acclaimed as The LEGO Movie was). Thor could move up higher if it's got more than Thor and Loki in it.

Why Pirates is on your list twice?

    They recently announced Peter Pan

Disney has announce about half of its animated library already, including the films I mentioned. But none of them including Peter Pan has a release date.
