Ok, you got me here...keeping those names is not a good decision.
I have no clue why they kept the names but changed the race. Or is it official those are the names?

Neither Zootopia nor Moana here, when people stop underestimating Disney Animation?

When was this moved to Christmas, I though it was coming out in October like most recent space films.

Why there isn't a Monday thread?

It the x men movie is as good as what I am hearing it will be the highest grossing CBM movie domestically and civil war will make less than 350 million
X-Men films seem to have a box office ceiling and Apocalypse's trailers have been so poor that even if WOM is amazing the film can not gross nearly enough to beat Civil War, expecially since it is a summer film where legs are not best.

KFP3 OS cume without CHina is 176m. KFP2 OS cume without CHina is 408m.
There's no major market left.
Since the numbers beyond opening weekend don't get reported that much people do not seem to notice how poorly it is doing (compared to the previous films). The Zootopia competition and poor US and China dates is the main reason to be sure. But that the series had a TV-show is probbaly partially a reason yet again. I wonder what The Croods 2 will do since it had a TV series as well.

Just noticed Allegiant is still only over 50M on its 3rd week. Almost everyone in this forum predicted that harsh drop but Lionsgate didn't? They didn't even shoot the part 2 back to back like Mockinjay to save money at least
Or they did see the box office numbers coming and that is why did not film the final film and did not promote this one well.
-
Families have probbaly heard how dark the film is and the rest the bad reviews.
While I thought yesturday that the 18.5 sounded suprisingly high I had to check what the source of this 15 was and had go back so many pages with a phone to page 24 whatever it was. The headline really needs to be updated.

How is Cinemascore reliable in any way when its sample size is 400 to 500 in 2 to 3 cities?! Just tell me, I'd be interested to hear.
The same way maybe having 20 critic reviews ends up usually being pretty similar what hundreds of critics think. People do not have that differing opinions in the end. Of course Cinemascore is more positive than the general opinion is, because those polled wanted to go see the film right after the film opened so they are very likely to be fans who like the film no matter of what. And it is not perfect otherwise either. But it does work still, you just can not compare those scores with other film reviews but with other Cinemascores.

Well if they repeated what they did in the first movie, there s no dwarves.
And Hollywood dwarves actors were absolutely furious about that decision.
Lol, so nothing good can come out of this film then?

Haters are now creating fake holidays to have an excuse for the movie performing over expectations, that's hilarious
Um, Easter Monday is a real holiday. It might not be celebrated in US but it is a celebration of Jesus appearing to apostles. It is called second Easter day in my country (Finland) and it is a national holiday which is why I originaly asked if it was a celebration in US.
-
Those clips look so boring and they do not feel really finished (maybe the soundtrack will be diffenrent in the film). I did not have any interest watching the film in theathers but kind of considered to stream if I saw it somewhere for fun but now I am not really interested at all.
At least some dwarf actors got work, rare to see female dwarfs I think.
-
Was Monday holiday anywhere in US? It is a national holiday in my country.

Some people said that Wonder Woman is done, but isn't thta just the filming in Britain and there is some filming in France that that will still happen?
-
I do not know why people think WOM can affect a film but reviews can not. This day and age is so easy to hear generally how the film is received. And if your friend tells that film is not good it will effect your weather he has seen the film or heard from a critic the friend trusts.

Lol Cannastop it's not doing 32m this weekend. That 3.7m figure is exactly where it needs to be for the Monday before Easter. Zoo will make between 25-28m this weekend. Friday will be big but Saturday will be flat or decline and Sunday will drop big.
Matter of fact this Friday could be close to or over this past Friday before correcting the rest of the weekend.
So in US people do not go to movies in Easter or the day before but do much more than usual on Christmas? How does that make sense?
-
Didn't people say Zootopia would not have a great weekend because of Spring Break?
Does anyone else think that YA films might be suffering because the sequels seem to be always released one year from another? People get tired.

Plenty of animated movies address social issues and aim their jokes and references at adults - so that parents can enjoy it too. I haven't seen Zootopia but by your description, there is nothing edgy about it.
But in Zootopia it is as if it is made for adults, not just the references but the entire plot, and there are just some things added to make the kids entertained as well.

Panda had $73 PTA yesteday. Most shows would have been empty. Its playing in 2700 theaters !!!!!
I do not understand how it still has so many theaters and generally how Dreamworks films so often get crazy high theater numbers.

19% bump for ZOOTP. I expected 25%+ followed by a big drop on Wed.
Did you base 25% prediction on some other film?

Btw in my country (Finland) the theathers these days mostly show only ordinarily TV commercials in front of films these days instead of trailers. For Zootopia there was only Kung Fu Panda trailer (two actually, one that was bacically one scene and then a short trailer later) rest were commercials. Also saw Son of Saul, no trailers just commercials. This is really annoying imo, trailers make the experience more movie like. Is this the case in other countries?

I thought Shaun the Sheep was great and fully deserving of its critical acclaim, but it seems I'm the only one
I have heard many people say that and didn't it even get animated feature nom? So you are not the only one who feels that way, I should see it at one point.

Did you hate BH6? I do think it was little mediocre and too short but I have never heard anyone hate it.

Hollywood and media seems to use A-list differently than general audience members who care about stars and people who follow box office. Sometimes it feels Hollywood uses A-list as in who has name recognition and gets to invited to A-list parties.

So when do you think Disney will announce animated films will get the live-action remakes first? It is so frustrating to keep hoping for Mulan and Sword in the Stone and be pretty certain that the Cruella prequel and Dumbo are the ones we will get.
