I dunno, personally I'm kind of sick of meta, let's poke fun of this, slasher horror. Would prefer to get more serious and straight forwards slashers back.

I want to see slashers make a comeback also but I'm worried studios will just go PG13 with them.

My problem with horror recently is EVERYTHING IS GHOSTS! Like the last 7 or 8 mainstream horror movies have been about ghosts in some way or another. Not that I have a problem with ghost movies it's just add a little variaty. Maybe the reason the box office is so underwhelming is because audiences are sick of ghosts.

Tomorrowland easily led the weekend but this is such a disappointment considering it's high budget and especially when you add prints and advertising costs even if it does good ok overseas it will not help losses for Disney.
Do prints even cost anything anymore? I thought everything was digital? Surely that's a lot cheaper.

Evil Dead had really intense trailers. And was a better film by the look of things. Had a lot more fanboy hype too.
Yeah but Poltergeist is PG13 which is apparently supposed to make more money than R rated movie. Hence why they keep forcing it upon horror movies.
-
I noticed Poltergeist is trailing Evil Dead (2013) figures. Which is odd considering Poltergeist is rated PG13 and has increased 3D ticket prices. Shouldn't it be doing much better since it's open to a broader audience? Evil Dead even cost half to make than Poltergeist did and it didn't have any known stars in it.

that doesn't mean really a whole lot thought though the GI Joe movies were poorly received on both Flixster and IMDB same with The Devil Inside for example

Yeah but The Devil Inside dropped like a rock!

I don't think Poltergeist is getting good word of mouth, it's user rating keeps dropping hard on IMDB and Flixter. I think it will fall hard for the next 3 days.
-
When should we start seeing Saturday numbers?
-
I don't think Poltergeist is hold well judging by the user ratings on IMDB and Flixter.

I assumed the sold off their old bigger house to pay for the new, smaller one.Poltergeist is a decent enough fright flick but the script is about as stupid as can be. The dad is laid off, the mom doesn't work, yet they buy a new house, gets his daughter a new Iphone, buys his wife diamonds and gets take out every night. Who the fuck approved this script?
During my divorce, I missed three Visa payments and it took me two years for the bank to approve a loan for me. These guys can buy a house with no money.

Wasn't there something else originally here instead of Poltergeist? I recall Fox swapped it with something.
-
That's quite the big number for Poltergeist considering it only had 10pm shows.
It had 8PM shows.
-
Hopefully. The genre seriously needs a big hit.
I'd rather a decent horror movie became a big hit rather than a shitting looking one like Polterguist

I know a lot of people who hated Insidious 2, I feel that might hurt 3. As for The Gallows, found footage has turned into box office poison.
-
Any numbers for Paul Blart 2?
-
Pg13 AND found footage? Count me out.
-
Doesn't look very likely, I would guess it will do about 170-180 worldwide. Is $200 million worldwide obtainable for EX3?
-
But Apes came out last week, this is Expendables first weekend. Its pretty normal. Apes did'ent increase either...
-
Expendables 3 didn't make more on Friday than it has been during weekdays, that doesn't look to good.Friday est.
The Expendables 3 26.3M/$4.2M, Total:158M/$25.5M (5 days)
Dawn of the Planet of the Apes 20M/$3.2M, Total:408M/$65.8M (8 days)
Although it will probably outgross the Domestic gross.
-
I think audiences have grown sick of Found Footage, hence As Above not doing very well.

Where is The Expendables 3 in the top 5? I thought it was PG13 to get more money. The first 2 movies managed to stay in the top 5 for at least 3 weeks so shouldn't part 3 be kicking ass and taking names?
-
That good or bad?277.
-
How are the Presales on The Expendables 3?
THE GALLOWS | 07.10.15 | Warner Brothers | final domestic gross: $22,764,410

Is it PG13?
Also there is a movie coming out over here called The Hallows, I got confused at first and thought it was this.
